Three years ago.
I was in Gozo, a small island near Malta.
There's no place in Europe more Catholic than the Vatican. Countless churches and cathedrals, both large and small, cover the island.
This is very impressive. You can see from the proportions how large it is. The dome is the fourth largest in Europe. And this in a village of 300 inhabitants.
Each of these many churches celebrates three masses a day.
That day I was in one of the churches of the medieval citadel.
This is a fortress near the capital Victoria.
The cathedral is incredibly Catholic, yet full of pagan symbols.
One of the many masses was beginning.
I entered..
Tourists are supposed to stay outside during Mass, but I came as a participant.
I covered my shoulders despite the heat.
Inside, against the door, a young man, clearly gay, was leaning.
He was wearing a very tight shirt with little material and shorts and was filming the mass with a selfie stick. He was leaning lasciviously against a column.
I sat on a bench and attended the mass.

This is a short video of the Mass in the cathedral. It's very beautiful in this strange language.
