She is Sarup Kumari (later Vijay Lakshmi pandit ) sister of Jawaharlal lal Nehru. She served as the 8th President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1953 to 1954.
He is Syed hossain, Oxford-educated and also a fiery nationalist.
It was Hussain's patriotic spirit that first caught Motilal's attention when he was looking for an editor to launch his newspaper. Nehru chose Syed Hussain, a pro-India Englishman and founding editor of the Bombay Chronicle." Syed Hussain, became the sub-editor of the Bombay Chronicle.
Nehru's newspaper office was in Anand Bhavan. After getting the job, he had to live like a bachelor in Allahabad. But due to his delicate upbringing, it became difficult for Syed Hussain to live like this. He started suffering from illness. In such a situation, Motilal Nehru invited him to live in Anand Bhavan itself.
At that time, Nehru's elder daughter Vijayalakshmi Pandit was 19 years old. Living in Anand Bhavan, Syed got a chance to mingle with the Nehru family. During this time, vijay lakshmi pandit was drawn towards him. Syed who was 5 feet 10 inches tall, fond of being clean and well dressed, was 12 years older than her. But the age difference could not become a hindrance in their love.
Different documents confirm that the two secretly got married as per Muslim rituals. By the time Motilal found out what was going on under his own roof, they were already secretly married, as Syed Husain later confessed to his good friend and only sympathiser Sarojini Naidu.
Motilal Nehru took Gandhi's help to separate the two in this hour of 'crisis', with whose help Syed Hussain was out of Allahabad in a few days and out of the country in a few weeks. He was sent abroad as a member of a Congress delegation to Europe, Gandhi took advantage of this opportunity and requested Syed to stay in England till the matter cooled down.
And after some years Nehru get his sister married to Ranjit Sitaram Pandit in 1921. He is Barrister and Sanskrit scholar also associate with Indian National Congress.
Interestingly, Syed Hossain returned to India in 1946 and was later appointed India's ambassador to Egypt by Jawaharlal Nehru.
There are also accounts suggesting that he and Vijayalakshmi met again after her first husband's death, but the details of their later relationship are not firmly established.
