• Expertise: Dr Subramanian Swamy is one of the foremost experts on Chinese economy and politics. He has held important discussions with many Chinese leaders.

• Mandarin: He speaks Mandarin (Chinese) quite well.

• Srilanka : Dr Swamy is considered an expert on Srilanka -its politics. He is known to many prominent leaders and public intellectuals of Srilanka.

• Harvard: He has taught many courses in economics at Harvard University as a visiting professor. He has also served it as an associate professor and assistant professor after completing his doctorate(1965) in economics from it.

He had many students and colleagues who were either Chinese or had contacts with China.
