Did Telugu ever make classy love stories sans skin show or vulgarity like Tamil movie 96?

There are many telugu movies that have classic love stories but writing about few of them,

I can remember

This movie created lot of hype when it was announced that National Film Award for Best Child Artist for her amazing performance in Mani Ratnam's "Anjali" in 1990, is reportedly set to make her comeback to the entertainment industry.

But it turned to be total flop , even though all of its songs were super duper hit. It was a classic love story with out any vulgarity.

Yes the movie is “OY’

Another classic love story is Godavari. Most part of the movie is shot in a boat. The entire love story happens during the boat journey in the river Godavari.

Anand - This movie was a new beginning for the telugu movie era. completely different screen play at those times.

perfect love story to watch for over the week end. There was zero vulgarity and exposing but still Kamalinee Mukherjee could attract lot of fan following those days.

This is the tale of two college going student who don't realize the love for each other until they separated. Perfect story for Y2k audience. The movie name is “Nuvve Kavali”

I will keep adding more classic love stories. if you want to see more .

What are some notable examples of Telugu actors participating in Kannada films, and how have those performances been received?

Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi appeared in 1996 Kannada film alongside V. Ravichandran in the action film Sipayi. The film was big box-office hit.

Chiranjeevi did an extended cameo role of Major Chandrakanth. Later Sipayi was dubbed in Telugu as Major in 1998, it was dubbed in Tamil language also.

People of Karnataka liked the appearance of Chiranjeevi in a Kannada film for the first time and also liked his performance in the film Sipayi. The song, ' Snehakke Sneha…’ picturized with Chiranjeevi and Ravichandran was a major hit song.

Ravichandran himself has written, directed and produced the film. Soundarya did the female leading actress role.

Chiranjeevi appeared as Lord Shiva in 2001s Kannada film Shri Manjunatha. It was major box-office hit. Other actors such as Arjun Sarja, Soundarya, Meena, Ambareesh and others acted in the film, K. Raghavendra Rao directed the film.

So far Chiranjeevi has acted in 2 Kannada films and both the films received good response from the audience.

Sai Kumar:

He is very well known actor for the people of Karnataka, basically a Telugu actor. He acted in numerous Kannada films as a leading hero, as a supporting actor and also in negative characters. As a hero some of his noted and major box-office hit films are Police Story in 1996, Agni IPS in 1997, Central Jail in 1997 and Police Story 2 in 2007.

Sai Kumar made his Kannada debut in 1992 with the film Prema Sangama in a supporting role, since then he is constantly acting in Kannada films in various different types of roles.

He acted in Kannada film Rangi Taranga, it was one among the 300 films eligible to get nominated for Oscars in 2016. It was a big hit film and emerged as the highest grossing film of the year. Sai Kumar has given a stand out performance in Rangi Taranga and he also won 3 awards Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, IIFA Utsavam for Best Supporting Actor and SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role.

In 2019, Sai Kumar starred alongwith his two brothers Ravi Shankar and Ayyappa in the film Bharrate. For this film he won SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role.

For the last time in 2022 he acted in 3 Kannada films : Avatara PurushaOmbattane Dikku and Made In Bengaluru.

Few of the best Kannada remakes of Telugu films are as follows in Alphabetical Order.

Aishwarya (2006) - Upendra, Deepika Padukone and Daisy Bopanna

This movie is a remake of the classic telugu movie Manmadhudu (2002) starring Nagarjuna, Sonali Bendre and Anshu. This happens to be the first movie of Deepika Padukone. Though this movie is a hit movie and is one of the top hit Kannada movies of 2006, it fails to hold the cult status that the original movie Manmadhudu holds.

Ajay (2006) - Puneeth Rajkumar and Anuradha Mehta

This hit movie is a remake of the telugu movie Okkadu (2003) starring Mahesh Babu and Bhumika Chawla. Like majority of his movies, this also happens to be one of the hit movies of Puneeth Rajkumar.

Brindavana (2013) - Darshan, Karthika Nair and Milana Nagaraj

This is a remake of the the Telugu film Brindavanam (2010) starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. This happens to be a hit movie. I’ve watched both the movies and can confidently tell that the Telugu version is way better. Jr. NTR’s rapo with the female leads and the supporting actors, Prakash Raj’s acting and the comic timing of Bramhanandam, Venu Madhav and other comedians is amazing. Sometimes I still wonder how this movie is a hit (maybe because of Darshan’s fan following). This is not the best remake according to me but I’ve added this in the list due to the fact that it was a hit.

Gaja (2008) - Darshan and Navya Nair

This movie is a remake of the telugu movie Bhadra (2005) starring Ravi Teja and Meera Jasmine.

Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttanna (2016) - Priyamani and Komal Kumar

This movie is a remake of the Telugu movie Geethanjali (2014) starring Anjali and Srinivasa Reddy. This happens to be one of the few hit films that does not have any big stars and is a hit truly based on the story and comedy.

Khushi Khushiyagi (2015) - Ganesh and Amulya

This movie is the remake of the Telugu movie Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013) starring Nitin and Nitya Menen

Maanikya (2014) - Sudeep, V. Ravichandran, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Ranya Rao

This movie is the remake of the Telugu movie Mirchi (2013) starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Richa Gangopadhyay.

Maurya (2004) - Puneeth Rajkumar and Meera Jasmine

This movie is a remake of the Telugu movie Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi (2003) starring Ravi Teja and Asin. Both the movies were one of the biggest hits in the respective year of release.

Porki (2010) - Darshan and Pranitha Subhash

This movie is a remake of the Telugu movie Poriki (2006) starring Mahesh Babu and Illeana D’Cruz. The Telugu version holds the cult status but I am not sure about the Kannada version.

Power (2014) - Puneeth Rajkumar and Trisha

This movie is the remake of the Telugu movie Dookudu (2012) starring Mahesh Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Ranna (2015) - Sudeep, Rachita Ram and Haripriya

This movie is a remake of a Telugu classic movie Attarintiki Daredi (2013) starring Pawan Kalyan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Pranitha Subhash.

Veera Madakari (2009) - Sudeep and Ragini Dwivedi

This is movie is a remake of the Telugu movie Vikramarkudu (2006) starring Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty

It is extremely sad that though these remakes were a hit, majority of the movies could not create the impact that the version that the Telugu version has created.

Your opinion might differ from mine. Let’s agree to disagree.
