Much before “It's her choice” made headlines, Nehad Dhupia took the media by storm by her b*ld scenes in the film Julie (2004). When she was asked about those scenes in the film she made a very shocking statement.

she had made her career with some b*ld movie like Julie and Sheesha. In an interview she defended her choice of films saying that at this point only two things sell “s*x and SRK”. She said that because SRK is not part of Julie she had to make up for it through the other S.

There was a lot of controversy about this statement. The scenes and the statement has benefited the film which became a surprise hit even though Neha Dhupia moved on from that image after a few years and made a space in the offbeat films and supporting roles. She also refused to work in Julie 2 which became a massive failure (it earned less than the first past even after releasing more than a decade later).

Neha Dhupia never really apologised or clarified her statement though in 2023 her comment hot headlines again when Pathaan became a monumental success and many people heralded it as return of Bollywood. One man tweeted her quote and Neha Dhupia replied on that tweet saying that her statement holds true even after 20 years.

 The most successful actors list can vary from industry to industry. In Bollywood there are some actors who have amazing success ratio. Very surprisingly one of the most successful actors of Bollywood is barely talked about. Her name was Sadhna.

In an industry where even the legendary actors have less than 50% she had a success ratio of above 80% before she had to cut her career short due to health issue. She did made a comeback to revive the fortune of her bankrupt husband and delivered husband. Her last few films were all delayed films which ruined her otherwise great track record.

She gave hits after hits starting from Love in Shimla, Parkah, Hum Dono, Asli Naqli, Ek Musafir ek Haseena, Mere Mehboob (her biggest blockbuster), Aarzoo, Wo Kaun thi, Rajkumar, Mera Saaya, Waqt, Dulhan Dulhan, Inteqam, Ek Phool do Mali, Geeta Mera naam (she was credited as the director but in reality the film was directed by her husband Rk Nayyar).

In terms of number of hits I would say the most successful actresses were Hema Malini and Reema Roy both having 50 hits.

Among the male actors we have Amitabh Bachchan who has only 5 flops between 1977–88 which is a terrific record. His films guaranteed recovery and he has one of the best box office records for his time as per success ratio. Dharmendra and Mithun also had steady steam of hits but they also had a lot of flops to their credit. Plus Amitabh has managed to give hits even at this age with hits like Piku, Pink, Badla, where he had a central character.

SRK, Salmna and Aamir also have success ratio more than 50%. Akshay Kumar has more number of hits than SRK but his success ratio is just above 35%. SRK has the best success ratio among the last tbatch of superstars with 36 hits out of 64.

Now coming to the worst. As mentioned earlier, Dharmendra and Mithun have more than 150 flops in their career. But in terms of ratio of failure the king is Raj Babbar who worked in around 230 films with barely 35–40 successes which makes around 85–90% of his films a failure which is not a good record. Even Art film actors like Naseer have hundreds of flops but then these films are festival films with limited commercial value and immense critical appreciation.

Chiranjeevi

• Viswambara — Planning for Dhussera release. If it ain’t releasing in Dhussera, then it would be postponed indefinitely. It would be the Dhurva Natchathiram equivalent of Chiranjeevi (if it isn’t released on Dhussera). I have quite a bad feeling about this purely due to the fact most of the delayed film won’t work well and also due to the underwhelming teaser. It would do in the range of 150–160 crores and most would flop imo.
• Mega158 — Sankranti 2027. Second consecutive Sankranti release for Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi from his return had 3 out of 7 successful movies. All the 3 successes came in Sankranti (MSVG, Waltair Veerayya, Kaidhi No. 150). Bobby is a very underrated commercial director. I love most of his films except Sardar Gabbar Singh. Predicting 275–350 crores and would like be Boss’ fourth consecutive Sankranti blockbuster.
• Mega159 — Probably 2028/29. Directed by Srikanth Odela. This film would explore Boss’ full box office potential. It is a fanboy film as Odela is a big fan of Chiranjeevi. I am very much excited for this project. For me personally Dasara was a decent film. Not too good and not bad. But I can see the potential of Odela. Let us see what Paradise does. Predicting 325–365 or even more than 375 crores and would become a clear hit.

Balakrishna

• NBK111 — November/December 2026 — Due to 2 big releases in Mega158 and Venky X Anil (4), NBK111 is planning to prepone to November or even December. Shooting is going on in full pace. The teaser looked good and expecting a Daaku Maharaj kinda stylish flick from Balayya. It has potential but not a big fan of the director. I didn’t like his previous release Jaat. It would do 150–160 crores and becomes a commercial success.
• NBK112 — Ugadi 2027 — Kortala Siva. Kortala has been kinda underwhelming in the past 4–5 years with Acharya bombing and Devara is a below average flick which did well due to Jr. NTR’s stardom. This would be an acid test for Kortala and Balayya. The shooting is commencing from today. Hopefully expecting an entertaining film like Mirchi, Srimanthudu from Kortala. Please don’t make it a Devara 2. Box office collection prediction is tough but either it would be a massive hit or a massive flop. No in betweens.
• NBK113 — 2028 — Vivek Athreya. One of my favourite directors in Telugu Cinema. I am a big fan of Ante Sundarinki and Saripodhaa Sanivaram (despite the flaws I like it in the end). This would be a film that everyone would praise about in recent Balayya garu movies similar to Daaku Maharaj. IDK whether it would do big like Bhagavath Kesari or Akhanda but it would do well and would be a very good film to discuss about. Predicting 145–155 crores and would become a commercial success.

Venkatesh

• Adharshana Kudumbam House No. 47 — August 2026 — Trivikram’s return after an underwhelming Guntur Kaaram. Before Trivikram moves to God of War, he decides to do an action family drama similar to Tamil movie Blast starring Venkatesh, Srinidhi Shetty. I think Trivikram would rectify his mistake and deliver a huge blockbuster similar like he delivered Ala Vaikuntapuramaloo after the debacle of Agnyathavaasi. Expecting 175–200 crores and would become a BLOCKBUSTER.
• Venky X Anil Ravipudi — Sankranti 2027 — Venky’s fourth collaboration with blockbuster director Anil Ravipudi. Again somehow Anil would give a hit due to his family audience pulse plus the darling of family audience Venky Mama is there. So likely Anil would extend his success streak to 10/10 and imo this would be the Sankranti winner despite I predict Mega158 to collect huge. Mega158 would take in more gross and Venky X Anil would take in more profits similar to Varisu X Thunivu where Varisu took more gross and Thunivu took more profits. Predicting 250 crores and would become a BLOCKBUSTER and a hat-trick of BLOCKBUSTERS for Venkatesh after Sankrantiki Vasthunam and a potential blockbuster in AK47.

Pawan Kalyan

• OG 2 is in the pipeline for the Deputy CM. The shooting would start after Sujeet completes Nani’s Bloody Romeo. I expect a better storyline when compared to OG part 1. I didn’t like OG very much but it did what it wanna to deliver. But IDK whether it would work for the second time if they repeat the fanboy stuff. Expecting a superb gangster drama with high mass moments which coincide with the story. Expecting 400–550 crores or even more and would be a SUPER HIT.

Allu Arjun

• Raaka — December 2027 — Shooting will be completed by November 2026. By late August, all the important and difficult portions would be shot and the talkie portions would be completed by November. Then they would work extensively for the VFX and if there is any correction shots, they would work on them too. Then they would promote well and would carefully release in December 2027. Raaka is carrying massive expectations amongst the audience but the trade and commerce expectations are exceeding the audience expectations as Allu Arjun who came from a ₹1600+ grosser in Pushpa 2 and Atlee coming from a 1000+ grosser. The film would surely cross ₹1000 crores worldwide but more than that depends on the film. It would become a HIT but not a Jawan, Mersal or Ala Vaikuntapuramaloo or Race Gurram level hit. It would be a S/O Satyamoorthy, Bigil, DJ level hit (based on recovery).
• AA23 — Ugadi 2028 — Today Lokesh is leaving to Mumbai to meet Allu Arjun in his Mumbai residence. Allu Arjun would be shifting between Mumbai and Hyderabad from now on. Tomorrow Lokesh and Allu Arjun would be doing a look test for the film. Expecting a post like how Lokesh posted during Coolie look test. This film would bring back the old Lokesh. According to Rathna Kumar, “Lokesh would be concentrating more on the screenplay and the action scenes which were the main negatives for Coolie”. I think this film would do very big at the box office and would collect more than ₹1200 crores. Allu Arjun would become the first Telugu actor probably to deliver hat-trick ₹1000 crores films. Both Atlee and Lokesh hasn’t delivered a single flop yet. Allu Arjun in has 23 years in cinema has delivered only 2 clear flops in Varudu and Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India. So the possibilities of these 2 films flopping is low.
• AA24 — 2030 — Basil Joseph. A superhero fantasy film produced by Geetha Arts (Allu Aravind). Allu Arjun and Geetha Arts would be collaborating for the fourth time after Happy, Badrinath and Sarrainodu. Since it would take 2030, I can’t predict the Box Office as there might be an inflation post 2027/28 due to many blockbuster potential Pan India films releasing in Telugu like Varanasi, Spirit, Kalki 2, Dragon 1 and 2, RC17. But expecting a very good entertainer like Basil’s previous directorials like Godha and Minnal Murali.

Mahesh Babu

• Varanasi — April 2027 — The big fish. The film that would be the pivotal reasons to take Tollywood’s levels to unprecedented highs. The break even for this film is ₹1650 crores. Expecting ₹2500 crores. Seems stupid and many would call me insane but this film would fully showcase Mahesh’s overseas pull. Would be a huge blockbuster and the highest grossing Indian film of all time. Varanasi would make Mahesh as the undisputed king of Tollywood, unless Jr. NTR, Prabhas and Allu Arjun completes their projects and delivers massive hits
• SSMB 30 — Sandeep Reddy Vanga [Possible] — Talks are going on. Vanga has narrated scripts to both Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu just like how Sukumar narrated Pushpa script to both Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu. Let’s see who would take it. But the production would start only after Vanga releases Animal Park and Spirit.

Ram Charan

• RC17 — late 2028 — Ram Charan is going to collaborate with Sukumar for the second time after the all time blockbuster Rangasthalam. Rangasthalam is one of the best Telugu movies of the 2010’s decade. This film would be a single part action film. It would be a complete different film from Pushpa. Sukumar finished his script work and the film production would start from this year end. The film production would take over for more than 1 year and 6 months for post production. It is said to be one of the biggest projects in Charan’s career. Expecting a proper comeback for Ram Charan in this film. The film would bring the first ₹1000 crores for Ram Charan as a solo hero and 2 ₹1000 crores overall.
• Then Charan is in a dilemma. He is hearing scripts from Adithya Dhar, Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel and Vanga. Vanga X RC is likely not gonna happen as Vanga is doing projects with Allu Arjun or Mahesh Babu, Spirit and Animal Park. Same with Neel. Has to do Dragon 1 and 2, Salaar 2. Charan has to choose between Dhar or Rajamouli. I guess he would choose Rajamouli most likely. If he choose Rajamouli then SKY is the limit with respect to the box office.

Jr. NTR

• Dragon Part 1 — June 2027
• Dragon Part 2 — December 2027

Prashanth Neel and Jr. NTR are collaborated for another epic action drama Dragon. Both the films have high market expectations and both has a huge potential for a ₹1000 crores gross. But my prediction would be Dragon Part 1 - ₹850–975 crores and Part 2 would collect ₹1450–1650 crores and both the films would become massive hits. The film is coming of better than what audience are expecting. Jr. NTR has done a lot of work in his body and is doing an insane amount of work for this project. It is a time consuming film and Jr. NTR is taking big risks for it. Expecting a far better outcome from Neel. Had massive expectations for Salaar but it satisfied only 55-60% for me. Atleast Dragon should satisfy more than 70% for me.

• God Of War — late 2028 or possibly Sankranti 2029 — Trivikram’s another dream magnum opus film akin to Khaleja and Aravinda Sameetha Veera Raghava. Jr. NTR and Trivikram are reuniting after the blockbuster success of Aravinda Sameetha Veera Raghava. This script was earlier narrated to Allu Arjun during Pushpa time. Initially both agreed to do this but due to time constraints and Allu Arjun preferring to work with Atlee, Trivikram shifted from Allu Arjun to Jr. NTR. The devotional fantasy angle would work big in the North India so expecting the film to do wonders there. All depends on Trivikram and Venkatesh’s Adharshana Kudumbam House No. 47 movie. If that movie clicks big, God Of War would surely collect more than ₹1000 crores and would do atleast ₹450 crores from the North belt.

Prabhas [Rebelwood]

Post 2028/29, Prabhas would have 5 ₹1000 crores film worldwide for sure.

Already Prabhas has 2 1000 crores films which are

• Baahubali 2 — ₹1810 Crores
• Kalki — ₹1061 Crores.

• Prabhas30 (directed by Adithya Dhar) — 2031/2032 release

Finally Prabhas learnt from his mistakes and is choosing promising directors instead of directors like Maruthi.

Last but not the least

Nani

• Paradise — December 2026 — More than Sankranti 2027, december looks more packed with NBK 111, Fauzi and Paradise. This is the second collaboration between Nani and Odela after Dasara’s massive success. Aaya Sher song is a massive hit and has brought a lot of hype for the film. The film would do wonders in my opinion. It has the massive potential to gross more than ₹350 crores. Nani has a very good market in Tamil and Malayalam and also has a very good base in North America. So imo Paradise would click very big and would be a huge BLOCKBUSTER.
• Bloody Romeo — late 2027 or early 2028 — Sujeet and Nani’s Bloody Romeo would release probably in late 2027. IDK whether this film falls under Saaho X OG universe but I am excited to see what a stylish filmmaker like Sujeeth would bring up in the table. This film also is one of the most expected films in Telugu Cinema. The film would do about ₹250–275 crores worldwide at the box office. It should click big if Sujeet concentrates more on the substance on par with the style.
