• Rajnikanth is an Indian actor who is considered to be the “Superstar of Tamil Film Industry”. However, interestingly Rajnikanth is not from Tamil Nadu! His real name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad and he was born to a Marathi speaking family in Karnataka.

• Before entering the film industry and becoming a superstar, he worked as a bus conductor in Bengaluru for the BENGALURU TRANSPORT SERVICE.

• He is the only Indian actor who featured in CBSE syllabus! He was featured in a lesson titled “FROM BUS CONDUCTOR TO SUPERSTAR”.

• “Thalaivar” Rajnikanth was the first Indian actor to do an action sequence on a moving train without a body double. He did that action sequence for his film “MURATTU KAALAI”.

• He crossed the milestone of working in 50 films within four years of his acting career. His 50th film “TIGER” in 1979 with N.T. Rama Rao.

• Rajnikanth worked in a lot of films which were the Tamil remakes of Amitabh Bachchan’s movies, and all these remakes were successful at the box office.

• His film “MAVEERAN” holds the unique distinction of being the first Tamil film to get a 70MM widescreen screening. It was also the home production of Rajnikanth.

• Rajnikanth made his Bollywood debut in 1983 and his debut Hindi film was the multi-starrer “ANDHA KANOON”. This film was a major hit and was screened successfully for 50 weeks at the theatre.

• In the 1996 Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections, Rajnikanth said “even God cannot save the people of the state” if Jayalalitha led AIADMK returned to office, and asked the people and his fans to vote for the DMK alliance. When the results were announced the DMK alliance won 221 out of 234 seats!
