Which is the best performance of Rajesh Khanna?

Rajesh Khanna, first superstar of Bollywood has given back to back hits with great performances which makes it much more difficult to arrive at a conclusion stating his best performance. For me, his best performance will always be Anand.

Anand is not those type of films where he is seen dancing around the trees or a musical where he is shaking leg with a gorgeous leading lady.

A character who is aware that he is going to die after a few months, accepting it and spreading joy in the life of every single person he meets. Rajesh Khanna as Anand is absolutely brilliant.

Dressed in a kurta-pyjama, this talkitive character is not only able to make you laugh and cry but also able to cause anxiety and give you goosebumps.

He is smiling most of the time in the film which shows that he is ready to embrace death. Full credit to the dialogues and direction of Hrishikesh Mukherjee but Rajesh Khanna excels in this humourous yet sentimental, morally strong and emotionally focused role.

He is good in Amar Prem, Khamoshi and Safar where he plays a bit emotional and in Bawarchi where he plays a light role but my favourite is Anand.

Personal opinion, might differ.

When Rajesh Khanna questioned Moushumi Chatterjee, asked- Vinod Mehra is the father of your child?

Moushumi Chatterjee has given Hindi cinema many great films like 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan', 'Anurag'. In that period, along with seasonal acting, she was also known for her fiery nature. In such a situation, today we have found such an anecdote of him and Rajesh Khanna for you. You will also be stunned to hear that.

  • In fact, in an interview given to Lehren Retro, Moushumi Chatterjee Chatterjee had made many big revelations about Rajesh Khanna. The actress told that once Rajesh Khanna had said very wrong things about her child. To which he also gave a befitting reply to the actor.

The actress further said that, when I was pregnant, Rajesh Khanna had asked if this child belonged to Vinod Mehra? I felt very bad about his talk and I could not help it. I immediately turned back to Rajesh and asked whether both Dimple Kapadia's children are with you or they are with Rishi Kapoor...

  • During this, Moushumi Chatterjee also remembered the last time of Rajesh Khanna, she said that when he was ill, I went to meet him with my daughter. Then he praised me a lot in front of his daughter.Moushumi Chatterjee was married to Jayant Mukherjee only at the age of 15. After marriage, both became parents of two sons and two daughters. But the elder daughter of the actress died at the age of 45 due to diabetes.

Who motivated Rajesh Khanna to make an entry into Bollywood films? What is his background?

Rajesh Khanna's biological parents or adopted parents did not motivate him to become an actor and he didn't have any filmy background also.

Rajesh Khanna was born in Amritsar on 29th December 1942 in a Punjabi Hindu Khatri family, his birth name was Jatin Khanna. His father Lala Hiranand Khanna worked as a headmaster in MC highschool in Burewala. His mother's name was Chandrani Khanna. But Rajesh Khanna was adopted and raised up by Chunnilal Khanna and Leelawati Khanna, they are the relatives of Rajesh Khanna's parents.

Rajesh Khanna was not inspired by any specific actor to become an actor, it was his own interest, since school days he was interested in acting and he had participated in many stage and theatre plays during his school and college days and had also won many prizes in inter-college drama competitions.

In 1962 , when he was 20 years old, he did a role of wounded mute solider in the play Andha Yug. With his perfomance the chief guest got impressed and suggested him to get into films soon.

In the 1965 All India Talent Contest organised by United Producers and Filmfare, Rajesh Khanna was one of eight finalists from more than 10,000 contestants. Khanna won the contest along with Farida Jalal. Many renowned filmmakers like B. R. Chopra, Bimol Roy, G P Sippy, Nasir Hussain and others were the judges of the contest. G P Sippy and Nasir Hussain were the first who approached Khanna after he won the contest.

In 1966 he made his acting debut with the film Aakhri Khat. In 1967 he received his first break as a leading actor in the film Raaz.

However the legendary actor Dev Anand was a prime inspiration in his early filmy career, he liked Dev Anand’s charm, unique styles, dialogue delivery and his mannerisms. Both had a big fan following in their time. The film Aaradhna brought Rajesh Khanna a big superstardom and he continued with the superstardom until 1975.
