Earlier she was Nita Dalal, got married on March 8, 1985 with Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited, the elder son of Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani.
When we refer to Nita's background, she was born in a middle class Gujarati family in Mumbai. She was born on 1st November 1963 to Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal. Nita grew up in that environment in Suburbun Mumbai.
Nita received bachelor's degree in commerce from the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. Since childhood she took training in classical dance form Bharatanatyam and she became a professional classical dancer.
Mukesh Ambani and Nita met after Mukesh Ambani's father attended a dance performance in which Nita took part, he got impressed by her dance performance and got an idea of arranging Mukesh and Nita's marriage.
Before marriage when she met Mukesh Ambani, she was working as a school teacher. After marriage also she worked as a school teacher for a few years.
Nita's sister Mamta Dalal is also a teacher who is known for teaching big celebrity kids including Sachin Tendulkar's children.
Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani have 3 children, two sons and a daughter. The elder two are twins, son Akash and daughter Isha born via IVF in 1991 after 7 years of their marriage. Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is located within the Jio World Centre in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex launched by her on March 31, 2023. The aim behind this is to focus on community programs like school and college outreach and competitions, awards for Arts teachers in residency Guru-shishya programs and art — literacy programs for adults among other things.
NMACC is a 4 storey building with 2000 seat grand theatre, exibition space and other 2 theatres.
