What are some shocking facts about Madhuri Dixit?

You will be shocked !! You just will not believe it , if I tell you that the song you enjoyed as being an innocent naughty song actually celebrates gang r;ape !!!!

This is condemnable. Let me open your eyes, ears and brain. This Madhuri Dixit song is about gang rape. Kindly allow me to breakdown the lyrics for your easy understanding.

CHANE KE KHET MEIN

Victim’s age and innocence ……“अठरा बरस की कँवारी कली थी”. An 18-year-old virgin bud. The first line depicts up her vulnerability.

Then next line tells about entrapment and predation……“मेरे आगे पीछे शिकारियों के घेरे, बैठे वहाँ सारे जवानी के लुटेरे”. Surrounded by hunters, all looters of youth. This song is not about a lover’s encounter in the chickpea fields, it is about a group of men, called as “hunters” in the song. Make no mistake, this is not one-to-one consensual love making, it is a group encounter. The song clearly says that the girl’s youth was robbed, this is a barefaced euphemism for forced sex. This is a gang, not a single pursuer. Clearly a case of sexual assault by a gang of men on a lady.

Physical coercion…..“पहले तो ज़ुल्मी ने पकड़ी कलाई, फिर उसने चुपके से ऊँगली दबायी”. First the cruel one grabbed my wrist, then pressed my finger.

The song narrated a step-by-step escalation of force. Language of force and theft…..“ज़ोरा ज़ोरी… हुई चोरी चने के खेत में”. “By force… there was theft in the chickpea field.”

Euphemistic for her chastity being taken. This is a forced encounter by a group of hunters.

The symbols of loss of modesty symbols are the following…. Veil slipping, bangles breaking, earrings lost — all cultural codes for violation of female honour.

The pathetic plea and helplessness are narrated in this line….“कोई भी तो आया न हाथ रे”. “No one came to give me a hand.”

A very pathetic end when no one came to rescue the girl who was sexually assaulted by a group of men. She was overpowered and abandoned. And raped by a gang. Gang rape.

I fully understand songs from rustic rural India and their naughty songs, full of ribald humour. But this song from the movie Anjaam , crosses all limits. I feel sad seeing young girls dancing to this song in marriages and celebrations , without knowing the actual meaning of the lyrics.

Just because the beautiful Madhuri Dixit enacted this song with a smiling face and graceful dance steps we think that this song is a naughty lover’s song.

Another example is the “bharatpur lut gaya” song filmed on Sonali Bendre. This too will shock you.

How could we be so naive for so many years and sing and dance to songs celebrating sexual assault.

She is an artistic educated gifted actress. It is impossible that she did not know the meaning of the lyrics. She had agency. She was not coerced. She could have refused to glorify r.ape. But she did not. She is an icon. A great actress. Maybe a lapse of judgement. I wish I could give the benefit of doubt.
