Arjun Rampal transitioned into films after a successful career in modelling. Though he made his acting debut with Rajiv Rai’s, “Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat”, the first film that he signed was, “Moksha”.
Rampal met fashion designer Rohit Bal at a party in Delhi. Rohit discussed about this meeting with Shekhar Kapoor.
Incidently Shekar Kapoor and Rampal met while working on a commercial shoot for the brand Monte Carlo in Ooty. Kapoor was directing the advertisement while renowned cinematographer Ashok Mehta was handling the camera.
It was the time when Mehta too was preparing for his directorial debut with “Moksha”. Mehta thought Rampal would fit the role in the film. Later, it was Shekhar Kapoor who strongly recommended Mehta to cast Rampal in the film as he was convinced of Rampal's potential.
With Rajiv Rai, Rampal had already done a music video, “Don't Marry Maya” alongside model Namrata Barua.
Rampal was then signed for, “Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat” which was Rampal's first release as “Moksha” was delayed due to Manisha Koirala’s other projects.
