What are the 5 most interesting historical black and white photographs?

 March 5, 1953 - MARINE ANGEL begins across the Michigan Avenue bridge as it passes the Wrigley Building and the Tribune Tower.

It was 600 feet long and 70 feet wide as it crossed the Chicago River. The freighter was the largest ship to ever sail on the river.

The transport ship, built near the end of World War II, sailed past Chicago on its way to Lake Michigan. Eleven World War II-era ships built for saltwater service were converted into bulk carriers and transferred to the Lakes.

This scene of a horse and carriage was taken somewhere in Minnesota, around the beginning of the 19th century. The details in this photo are truly remarkable, from the intricate design of the carriage to the stunning mane of the horse.

It's fascinating to see how transportation has evolved over time and to witness a glimpse of the past through this photographic collection of glass negatives.
