Which movie best portrayed aliens the way you imagined them?

I love alien movies. Some of the very best I’ve seen are

  • Signs
  • Independence day
  • Edge of Tomorrow (This was simply brilliant)
  • Interstellar, etc

But I honestly think Oblivion has the most well thought out / realistic aliens (regardless of the movie's quality).

Here are some of the reasons why I think Oblivion has the best Aliens.

  • The universe is enormous - without wormholes, the ability for another being to travel the distance required to reach us seems absolutely impossible.
  • The universe is old, and humans are young - the likelihood of another civilization existing at the same time as us, is insanely low.
  • We are getting closer and closer to developing true AI. The likelihood of another civilization developing AI is reasonable.
  • So if the aliens from Oblivion, are just the end result of another civilization's AI - it makes perfect sense. Time is not an issue, and so neither is distance, by not being a living organism with a natural expiration date - they can survive forever, and travel any distance given enough resources (which in this case seems to be water).
  • "Alien AI" doesn't even attack us. It just sits and wait for us to send them (a scout mission) some dummies to study.
  • THEN, they blow up the fucking moon! This is just so brilliant! Screw invasion, let mother nature handle it. Losing the moon wipes out most of the population.
  • BUT WAIT, remember those dummies we sent them? Well they know exactly what the best weapon to kill humans is now - other humans. So boom, clone em, and send em back.

Its just unbelievably well thought out and is the most efficient attack + most rationally thought out "alien movie". As far as the aliens themselves go.

Lemme know what your comments are and what you think about Oblivion.
