What is the background of the richest Indian, Mukesh Ambani's spouse Nita Ambani?

Earlier she was Nita Dalal, got married on March 8, 1985 with Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited, the elder son of Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani.

When we refer to Nita's background, she was born in a middle class Gujarati family in Mumbai. She was born on 1st November 1963 to Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal. Nita grew up in that environment in Suburbun Mumbai.

Nita received bachelor's degree in commerce from the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. Since childhood she took training in classical dance form Bharatanatyam and she became a professional classical dancer.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita met after Mukesh Ambani's father attended a dance performance in which Nita took part, he got impressed by her dance performance and got an idea of arranging Mukesh and Nita's marriage.

Before marriage when she met Mukesh Ambani, she was working as a school teacher. After marriage also she worked as a school teacher for a few years.

Nita's sister Mamta Dalal is also a teacher who is known for teaching big celebrity kids including Sachin Tendulkar's children.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani have 3 children, two sons and a daughter. The elder two are twins, son Akash and daughter Isha born via IVF in 1991 after 7 years of their marriage. Their third son Anant was born in 1995 by conceiving naturally 3 years after the birth of twins. Now she is the grandmother for 4 grandchildren.

Nita lives with her husband Mukesh Ambani and their family in Antila, the second most expensive and luxurious private residence in the world which values approx ₹15,000 crore, located at Billionaires Row in Mumbai. It is a 27 storeys building, the most expensive residence in India spread over 37, 000 square metres.

Nita Ambani is an art collector. She is the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, an Indian philonthropic initiative founded in 2010 by Nita. Reliance Industries is a patron of the organisation.

She is also the director of Reliance Industries.

Nita Ambani is the co-owner of IPL team, Mumbai Indians. She led the Education and Sports for All ( ESA) an initiative as a part of Mumbai Indians way of giving back to society.

Nita Ambani is the founder of Dhirubhai Ambani International School which has been ranked among the best schools in Resources & Services.

Nita Ambani was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 4th June 2016 and she became the first Indian woman member.

On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2022 she launched ‘Her Circle' which focuses on the empowerment of women with modern digital tools.

Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is located within the Jio World Centre in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex launched by her on March 31, 2023. The aim behind this is to focus on community programs like school and college outreach and competitions, awards for Arts teachers in residency Guru-shishya programs and art — literacy programs for adults among other things.

NMACC is a 4 storey building with 2000 seat grand theatre, exibition space and other 2 theatres.

In 2017 Nita Ambani received Rastriya Khel Protsahan Award from the then president of India.

In 2016 Nita Ambani was listed in the most influential women business leaders in Asia by Forbes. She was also listed as one among the 50 high and mighty Indians by India Today.

As of May 2025, Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia and 13th richest person in the world with the networth of US$ 108 billion that is ₹10,650 crore.

Nita Ambani also has immense wealth, as on 2024 reports Nita Ambani's networth ranges from ₹ 2,340 to 2,510 crore. Nita Ambani leads a very luxurious lifestyle. Her mobile phone, the Falcon Supernova iphone 6 Pink Diamond Edition values $48.5 million. As per reports she begins her day by drinking tea in a Noritake tea cup which is a part of a tea set values 1.5 crore and each cup values approx 3 lakh. The tea cup set is made with fine porcelain with intricate gold detailing.

Nita Ambani also pays special attention to her fitness and leads a healthy lifestyle. She does excercise 6 days a week with varied excerises such as Yoga, swimming, core strengthening and walking. She takes the food which is vegetarian, organic, protein rich and high nutritional by strictly avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners.
