Samudragupta is called as Napoleon of India mainly due to his record of being undefeated. But this is wrong comparison as Samudragupta was really an undefeated emperor while Napoleon was not. And another thing is that samudragupta was way before Napolean in time. So technically it should be Napolean who should be called Samudragupta of his era of they want to.
Yes the Gupta era is called as a golden age of Bharatvarsh by majority of historians. Samudragupta was most powerful Emperor of Gupta Empire. He was also patron of arts. He himself is depicted playing veena in images and paintings. He had issues 7 different type of coins :- Standard Type, the Archer Type, the Battle Axe Type, the Aashvamedha Type, the Tiger Slayer Type, the King and Queen Type and the Lyrist Type. The Gupta king had the monetary system fairly sorted in his kingdom.
Samudragupta's entire body was said to be covered with battle wounds. Samudragupta fought every battle with smart strategy and great valour. It is said that his fit body was covered with the marks of a hundred wounds caused by the blows of battle axes, arrows, spears, pikes, barbed darts, swords, lances, javelins, iron arrows and many other weapons. Plus Samudragupta had very large and modernised military broadly on match with Mauryan empire.
