What are the contributions of Telugu cinema to the Indian film industry?

Telugu cinema has contributed a lot to Indian film industry. It has also given outsiders who are not Teluguites a career in the film industry . Let's look at some of its contribution :

  • First Mythological movie

The 1957 movie was the first Mythological movie in Indian cinema and it was a trend setter movie in Indian cinema. It can be termed as a movie which is way ahead of its time.

  • Career for other language people

Actors like Siddharth has got more hits in Telugu cinema than in Tamil cinema. In one of his interviews he tells that wherever he goes he introduces himself as a Telugu actor.

Prakash Raj is known more for his work in Telugu film industry than for his work in Kannada film industry.

Most of the heroines in Telugu film industry in the 21st century are outsiders. Most of the high budget movies in Telugu which are released in multiple languages will feature other language people too.

So overall Telugu film industry has always welcomed outsiders and treated them just like a native.

  • Remakes

The 2002 film Jayam was remade into Tamil and the actor was since then called Jayam Ravi.

Tamil actor Vijay has a lot of remake movies from Telugu:

Ghilli remade from okkadu

Aathi from Athanokkade

Pokkiri from pokkiri

Vaseegara from Nuvvu Naaku Nacchavu

Badri from Thammudu

Hindi film industry in the past 20 years has been making a lot of remakes which are originally made in Telugu:

Salman Khan's

Wanted is a remake of Telugu film Pokiri.

Ready is a remake of Telugu film of the same name. This movie has been remade into other languages too.

Shahid Kapoor's

Kabir Singh is a remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy. He is also set to make a remake of another Telugu film called jersey.

Akshay Kumar's

Rowdy Rathore is a remake of Telugu film Vikramaarkudu.

Ajay Devgan's

Son of Sardaar is a remake of Telugu film Maryaada Ramana. This movie was remade into 5 languages.

There are many more such movies and this list is huge.

  • Singers

Both SPB and Janaki were singers in other South Indian languages and have sung a lot of songs in those languages too.

and last but not the least is Baahubali which was amongst the highest grossed Indian movies and it disproved the common belief of people that regional languages cannot make it into the highest grossed Indian movies.

So this is an overall glimpse of Telugu cinema though there is a lot more to talk.

Which actress is known as unlucky in the Kollywood industry?

Kollywood present day celebrities, whose first film failed to hit screens; while starting the career.

  1. Trisha Krishnan: Trisha was originally signed for the film Lesa Lesa directed by Priyadarshan, as well as Enakku 20 Unakku 18.
    1. Due to significant production delays with both, her actual debut and first release was Ameer’s Mounam Pesiyadhey (2002).

What are the biggest casting mistakes in Indian Film History?

  • Stupid Khan in Tubelight.

Remove Salman Khan from this movie and this becomes a great movie. The producers forgot that Salman Khan just cannot act which was required in this movie.

  • Akshay Kumar in Jolly LLB 2.

Agree or not Akshay ruined the charisma that Arshad Warsi created in the first film. Well Akshay Kumar has destroyed most of the sequels he worked on.

  • Hrithik Roshan in Super 30.

Okay the movie wasn't that bad, it's just that Hrithik doesn't look much rural, he's a handsome urban hunk. And the main character is from a rural village in India. In this movie Hrithik looks more like a Egyptian God.

  • SRK in Zero.

What really pissed me off about this movie is that they spent so much to make SRK look like a dwarf. They should have instead hired a talented dwarf actor, saved the budget, SRK and Katrina could have done a cameo and the movie would be much better and realistic. It's not a bad movie, it's just that watching SRK forcibly trying hard to make unrealistic things look realistic is just not what this movie required.

  • Shraddha Kapoor in Haseena Parker.

Shraddha Kapoor just cannot play the negative role. Give me a break. She more looks like a candy canny, the next door girl trying to lose her virginity. The Filmmakers tried to make her look ruthless in this movie by just applying soot beneath her eyes. The movie, obviously tanked.

Why is the Tamil film industry dominated by non-Tamil actresses? What happened with Tamil girls in Tamil Nadu? Why is it rare to find Tamil actresses?

Nowadays we find many actresses from other regions acting for different languages.

The Tamil Film industry is dominated by non-tamil actresses as there aren’t many ladies from TN as an actress. Audiences would love to different kind of ladies on the screen. I find the actresses who knows the language or brought up from that language cultures acts well for that language films.

Let’s talk about actresses from TN who made big in Kollywood

Samantha Akkinenni

This lady is from TN. She acted in Tamil and Telugu films. After marriage, she got only telugu offers. Hopefully she gets some offers too. She was last seen in Family Man. She was seen as a Sri Lankan tamilian. It was nice to see her doing this kind of role.

Aishwarya Rajesh

This lady is tamilian. She is current young actress from TN who is active in tamil films. She is also active in Telugu.

I just like her.

Regina Cassandra

This lady is also from TN. She has done good number of films. She impressed me from Chakra film. Her first film as antagonist.

Andrea Jeremiah

This lady is also from TN. She has done good number of films and is also a good actress. She has a good number of upcoming tamil films.

Trisha Krishnan

Another nice lady actress from TN. She has played in many telugu and tamil films. She is one of the bold actress

It isn’t rare to find. There aren’t many ladies from TN aspiring to become an actress. Acting is also required. They also should be suited to the role. If they aren’t, the makers go for other actresses.

How can the shipping industry prevent containers from falling into the ocean?

In simple terms, they cannot, without major redesigns to the structure of large container ships, and possibly containers themselves.

Companies are very reticent. Accurate figures for exactly how many of the millions of containers shipped each year are actually lost overboard are very hard to find. Probably significantly less than 1%. But, that is still quite a large number of individual containers. Eventually, containers WILL sink, but may remain afloat for a significant period.

Probably steps could be taken, but these would involve significant cost, and may impact on the economic operating model, and reduce profitability. The total number of containers carried per ship /trip may reduce, while operating costs remain effectively unaltered.

Sadly, it is easier [and cheaper ] to simply allow the insurance companies to reimburse the customers who entrusted containers to them and face slightly increased premiums.

Looking at the photo above, there is nothing that can practically be done to stabilize that load while at sea. Even in port, it will be a delicate operation to recover them. Normal port loading systems are not designed to deal with containers on their side, or upside down.

Which actress is known as unlucky in the Kollywood industry?

 In my opinion

Anjali

She started her career in the now critically acclaimed kattradhu Tamil M.A. Although her role was very small ,she was able to shine in the limited screen time with her charm.

She then gave another solid performance in Angadi Theru , a reflection of how the shop workers of popular retail stores are being treated.

She then gave another good performance in Engeyum Eppothum for which she earned several awards too.

Unfortunately, she was in a period where heroines were only as useful as background extras in tamil cinema and they only concentrated on who shows more skin and who is the fairest looking. Even actresses like Hansika Motwani,Amy Jackson had a long career in tamil cinema.

She tried to change tracks by doing glamour roles in movies like mangatha, kalakaluppu and Settai but it didn't suit her. In fact , the reviewers took an extra paragraph to mention how ridiculous she looked as an English news channel reporter in Settai .

Then she got caught in a controversy where her stepmother complained of her getting kidnapped only for her to counter that they were misappropriating the money she earned .

The current audience is now looking forward to dusky actresses like Aishwarya Rajesh, Sai dhansika etc who look like a normal Tamil girl instead of a north indian import.

Had Anjali been in this current era,she might have had better success due to her simple looks and natural acting.

Why do actors like Rashmika Mandanna often move to bigger film industries, and is it really abandoning their roots or just a smart career move?

It's BAD PR

The thing is - you are expected to REMEMBER YOUR ROOTS when you move on to other industries

Sridevi for instance moved to Bombay full time in 1987 to focus on Hindi Films

Yet she still honored her call sheets in Telugu and Malayalam - she still referred to Balachander as the man who gave her the first break

Rashmika made 2 mistakes

I. Omission of the Kannada Industry 2019

In 2019, during a press conference, she said GEETHA GOVINDAM was her first start in the film Industry and later in 2023 during the Animal press conference said “I got my first break in Telugu”

She also referred to her Kannada Debut film - Kirik Party (325% returns by the way) as “Some Kannada Film by some Kannada Director”

This angered Kannada fans

Fans like deference

Tamil fans like Shivarajkumar saying he went to college in TN and Kannada fans like Rajini saying how he was a devout Annavaru fan (Annavaru = Rajkumar)

That Director was Rishabh Shetty of the Kantara fame 😁

II. Her Breakup with Shetty

She had a well publicized relationship with one of the shettys (Can't be the Kantara Director as he has a 9–10 year old son who came in Kantara Chapter I)

It was a break up

However because of the NATURE OF HER COMMENTS - She was painted as a GOLD DIGGER who abandoned the guy for someone else (Vijay Devarakonda). She was called DAGAAR which only my Kannadiga friends can tell, what it means (Not a good word I presume 😁)

Not that it has affected her career

She is among the most commercially successful actresses in India

What are some mind-blowing facts & trivia about Indian Film Industry ?

The island shown in the film Shaan which was antagonist Shakaal's den (played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda) is Steep Holm, an English Island in the Bristol Channel, in Somerset, England.

Director Ramesh Sippy was very much concerned about Shakaal's well sophisticated den.

A huge set was erected in Filmcity Studio, Mumbai which had a glass and mirror set. The entire cost of the set was more than 8 Lakh Rupees which was a huge amount in the 80's decade.

Vidya Sinha who is remembered for her beauty and simple roles in films like Choti Si Baat and Rajnigandha was offered the main role in Raj Kapoor's Satyam Shivam Sundram.

She always regretted for not doing the film as being associated with a Raj Kapoor movie was a dream of every actress.

The reason she refused the role was that she was not comfortable wearing the clothes that Zeenat Aman wore in the film.

The chains worn by Madhubala in the magnum opus film Mughal-e-Azam were authentic and not the light ones. It was her greatest ordeal in the film and she was bedridden for days nursing the bruises caused due to wearing those heavy chains.

Dev Anand - Waheeda Rehman starrer film “Guide", was the first film to win all four major Filmfare Awards. The categories were Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film and Best Director.

Guru Dutt's movie Kagaz Ke Phool has achieved a cult status. The film is known for it's technical brilliance.

In the song Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam, the cinematographer of the film V. K. Moorthy created the shot of the sun breaking through the studio roof by using a pair of ordinary mirrors to get a parallel beam of light. He won the best cinematographer award for this scene which is remembered even today.

Madhumati was the record holder for the most number of Filmfare Awards received by a film for 37 years until the release of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Madhumati received 9 Filmfare Awards while Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge received 10 Filmfare Awards.

The reel life meeting scene of Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in the film Bobby is supposed to

be inspired by the real life meeting scene of Raj Kapoor and Nargis.
