Comparatively speaking, with respect to her peers, she held her own - given the typecasting she had to endure. Woefully so, she was just breaking out of the mold when she died. She had a list of approved directors, and it could’ve been expanded upon in a beneficial and lucrative way for all parties concerned.
This is not to say, that, it wouldn’t come without challenges. She would have needed a couple more movies under her belt, showcasing her relevant acting skill set, fresh, new scripts with just enough grit to push her through the membrane, and just the right director to pull it all together and push her to her maximum potential. This would’ve been a massive undertaking but could’ve catapulted her to the star recognition and power she longed for.
Unfortunately, as we are all aware, she had a plethora of demons to fight, political ties to sever, and addictions to conquer, which realistically, would’ve drained every ounce of strength from her mind and body. What was left would be what we got. I’ve got my fingers crossed respectfully and posthumously.
