FEMINISM
Bollywood movies have a warped understanding of the term Feminism. I have come across a lot of instances in Bollywood movies that purport feminism but actually end up making the audience cringe.
This is a scene from the movie Ye Jawaani Hai Dewaani.
The girl suddenly turns back and starts reprimanding the kid standing behind her for apparently staring at her legs. She makes him apologise in front of everyone and orders him to go to a different counter.
And then look at what she does.
The kid is literally minding his own business. She goes and harasses him by pinching his waist!
Dafaq? That’s manhandling and touching without consent. The kid may or may not have stared at her legs, but she legitimately harassed and bullied him in front of everyone. The same situation with the roles reversed cannot be imagined (and of course, shouldn’t happen either)!
Dear Bollywood,
Feminism IS standing up to men.
Feminism IS NOT bullying men.
