What are the best Indian street foods?

 Since popular examples are already stated here by others, I am including other street foods across India, some of which are my favourites.

  1. Maddur vada - savoury fritter from Karnataka

2. Mysore bonda- deep-fried dumplings

3. Ros omelette- Evening/night time snack from Goa, omelette served with chicken curry and warm rolls

4. Pazham pori- Tea-time Kerala snack of batter fried banana

5. Kothu parotta- spicy curried shreds of parotta with vegetables, egg or meat. Tamil Nadu speciality

6. Bhurji pav- Scrambled eggs Mumbai style

7. Roasted shakarkandi- sweet potato, Delhi

8. Besan ka chilla- Chandni Chowk, Delhi

9. Aloo kabli chaat- Kolkata

10. Jhaal muri- West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha

11. Kathi roll- Kolkata

12. Dahi bara, aloo dum- Anywhere in Odisha

13. Parippu vada- chana dal fritters from South India, esp Kerala

14. Surti locho- lentil snack from Gujarat

15. Sev khamani- Cousin to above, also from Gujarat

16. Mirchi bada- Rajasthan

17. Kheema pav- Mumbai

18. Litti chokha- Bihar

19. Dhuska ghugni- Jharkhand

20. Bombay Sandwich

21. Misal pav- Maharashtra. Regional variants exist, matki is the usual pulse used. Misal lovers insist on topping up with the spicy tari.

22. Hurda bhel-Maharashtra. Winter time chhat made with lightly roasted tender sorghum (jowar)

23. Daulat ki chaat/Malayo/Malai Makkhan/Nimish- North India, only available in winter, till end of February. It is a delight, although it is just milk fat foam served lightly sweetened.

24. Punugulu chutney- Andhra Pradesh, Telangana. Deep fried idli batter.

25. Pesarattu upma-Andhra Pradesh, Telangana. Semolina upma with moong dal dosa.

26. Chana jor garam- Inexpensive chickpea snack popular all over North India

27. Baida roti- Mumbai version of the meat stuffed Mughlai egg paratha. Ramzan special.

28. Sindhi Dal Pakwan- Breakfast dish of spicy channa dal and crisp pastry.

29. Egg Devil aka Dimer Chop- Kolkata. Fish, meat and vegetarian choice also popular but this one is my favourite :) Enjoyed with kasundi

30. Thukpa- Tibetan noodle and vegetable soup, the Nepalese version is spicier.
