What are the famous sweets and snacks of different parts of India?

 I am from Baroda, Gujarat currently living in Ahmedabad. We Gujaratis are foodie and enjoy all kinds of food be it spicy or sweet :)

Ghari
Its basically a lot of 'Mawa' wrapped in ghee soaked puri. This sweet dish is mainly available in Surat.

Mohanthal
It's made mostly during religious occasions as an offering to God. Prepared with gram flour and sugar, it's easy to make and awesomely delicious sweet.

Sutarfeni
Gujju version of Noodles. :) Made using Medaflour, it looks threadlike, flaky and is topped with various dry fruits. Best place to get this: Khambhat town.


Khakhra
A breakfast item made with wheat flour and oil. It is available in every part of Gujarat in various flavours like palakh, masala, methi, Maggy even. :)


Sev Usal
If you are in Baroda, check out Mahakali's Sev Usal. Mostly eaten with bread, it's hot and spicy item made using green peas, ragda and sev. Sadly, I couldn't find this much in Ahmedabad.


Bhajiya
We enjoy this dish during monsoon. It basically is a variety of Pakora and is made with methi, potato, chilly, onion etc. You can get this from many small shops/restaurants in any part of the state.


Fafda/Cholafali
It's probably the most favorite snacks item in Gujarat. It is made of chickpea with long strip of dough which is deep fried. We have a strange tradition of eating Fafda with Jalebi on Dusshera festival.


Handvo
It is a baked dish made from various dals and rice, sesame and spices. You may not find this in shops. People generally prepare this at home.


Khichu
A thick porridge-like mixture made of rice flour and seasoned with cumin seeds. Once prepared, the mixture is often topped with oil, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mainly a winter item, it's available in small shops in Baroda and Ahmedabad.


Apart from these, we enjoy Khaman, Sev-khamani, Dhokla, Khandvi, Chakari, Basundi, Shiro, Kansar, Mathia, Patra and many more.
