What are your views on Jagapathy Babu getting more chances than Srikanth as a villian in Tollywood recently, though both are equally competent in their acting skills?

Over the years, Tollywood has taken numerous number of actors from other movie industries like Bollywood / Sandalwood / Lollywood for villains. There had been a trend of introducing newer villains into the Tollywood movies and to enhance their negative shades of the actors, extra violence and newer techniques of spreading violence were showcased. Though the trend of introducing new actors didn’t hurt much as the available options for Villains were very old and their age didn’t support their acting careers anymore.

This was the time when the likes of Mukesh Rishi, Pradeep Rawat, Sonu Sood, Sayaji Shinde, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Ashutosh Rana, Ravi Kishan rooted their careers in Tollywood as Villains. That was the very reason why most of these actors are North Indians who suited pretty well for these negative shades of character.

Though these actors have made their mark in the Bollywood industry or any other industry, but were called into Tollywood only to boast the heroism of the heroes in the Telugu movies. Having said all that, we have home grown Villains in Tollywood now whom we can cherish more (considering that we’ve seen them far longer than the new faces from the other movie industries) like Jagapathy Babu, Srikanth, Rana Daggubati, Gopichand, Ajay and many more. This leads to the actual question that why Srikanth is not getting more opportunities as a Villain than Jagapathy Babu in the recent telugu movies.

Jagapathy Babu:

Srikanth:

Rana Daggubati:

Gopichand:

Ajay:

I kind of liked the role that Srikanth played in the movie ‘Yuddham Sharanam’, the intensity that Srikanth has brought into the role - I might not be able to siee that from Jagapathy Babu or Gopichand or Ajay or any other Villain for that case. The reason for me to say this is not because the others are not that they are talented actors but that the intensity that the character demanded was delivered right by Srikanth there. One known fact that the current generation might have forgot is that Srikanth was introduced into Tollywood as a Villain first and then he switched roles to a hero. One other good example there is Gopichand who played the role of a Villain in the movie Nijam against Mahesh Babu… How many of you remember the intensity that he has brought to the role in that movie?

Jagapathy Babu has played the roles of Villain in many recent Telugu movies but he has been showcased as the Rich, Ruthless & the Rowdy Businessman to snatch and catch anything for money. I guess that he suits for those kinds of roles as a Classy Businessman but not the roles that Srikanth has played earlier. Though Jagapathy Babu has played the roles of a Rowdy / Don in movies like ‘Pilla Nuvuleni Jeevitham’ and ‘Aravindha Sametha’, I couldn’t like his acting at all or his look at all…

This is just my opinion of how the trend of Villains has come through over the years and how we have now a bunch of actors who are willing to take up the roles of Villains to UP the intensity and the others to keep the buzz about a movie.
