What is the relationship between Lord Ganesha and Gauri?

 

• Gaurinandan:Shri Ganesh ji was created by cosmic mother Mata Gauri (of fair complexion) with turmeric . She appointed him as leader of her Gana or divine guards. Thus, Ganesh ji also known as Gaurinandan.

• Doting : Neither Gauri ji nor Ganesha ji can live without each other. Lord Ganesh ji is always worshiped as Gaurinandan (son of gauri) and Goddess is always worshiped as Ganeshmata (mother of Ganesh) .
• Birth: According to sacred texts; the moment Lord Shiva cut off head of Ganesh ji who had defeated all deities ; Goddess Gauri became too angry with all and was about to curse entire creation.

• Nevertheless; Lord Vishnu-her brother -cut off a head of an elephant and transplanted it on the head of Ganesh ji to pacify his sister Gauri.

• Blessing : Gauri ji blessed her son with ashta sidhi ( eight sacred powers) and holy trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh gave Ganesh ji blessing to be worshiped first among all gods and goddesses.
