What was Draupadi's character like in the Mahabharata, and why was she so important?

Draupadi was born in Yajna fire and she was daughter of Dhrupad, King of Panchala. She is also called Yajnaseni and Krishnaa for her dark complexion. She was the most beautiful woman of her era. Arjuna won her in her Swayamvara but later due to Kunti's mistake of saying to divide her among the brothers without looking at her and later Yuddhisthir deciding that she would be wife of them, she was married to five Pandavas. She seems to be accepting the decision in the epic although her father and brother were very uncomfortable with this decision.

Her personality is described as very gracious, hard working, intelligent, beautiful and self respecting. She is one of the most important characters of Pandavas as the treachery in Gambling Hall and her shameful disrobement was the final nail in the coffin and Mahabharata War became evident.
