Movie Name: Dhilla
Mainpal Badli is the hero’s name in this movie. A typical Haryana Jat character that is shown in Bollywood movies. A feared gangster.
Nickname: Dhilla!
Flashback shows that he was brought up as an innocent child in a small village. Sucked into petty crime due to poverty.
He is more enterprising and daring than his peers. Rises up the ranks in the criminal underworld.
Soft at heart. But deals with the cruel world with his fists.
Eventually, after 24 criminal cases are registered against him, Dhilla is convicted in a court. Sentenced for life.
Granted parole for 6 weeks. He plots a daring escape. Not to Mumbai. Not to Switzerland (movie doesn’t have that much budget).
He escapes to Cambodia using a fake passport in the name of Sonu Kumar.
Now, a detour into a love story. A local Cambodian woman named Meta Chan falls in love with him.
Yes, our hero is a nobody now, doesn’t even know the local language, but some woman there still falls for him. (And you are wondering why, with a solid job in AI, you can’t hook up with anybody in a Bangalore pub!)
Dhilla starts from scratch in new country with no money, no contacts. Still, he somehow builds a business empire. Discotheque named Konitai. Restaurant named Angkor. And all that is just the front for what he is really doing to make tons of money.
Hero and Heroine start a family. Three adorable little children. Domestic bliss at home. Karva Chauth. Professional success in his underworld business. All seems well.
Interval!
Indian police is still searching for Dhilla. They eventually locate him. Interpol issues arrest warrant.
Hero is eventually arrested in Cambodia. India cannot get even Nirav Modi extradited, but somehow this man gets extradited to India.
Separation from heroine and adorable kids. Family split. Tragedy. Sentiment.
Court case starts again in India. Mainpal urf Dhilla urf Sonu appeals to the Judge that he be allowed to get properly married as per social custom. This marriage with Meta Chan was never properly solemnized in Cambodia since a proper Vedic priest was not handily available to do the seven phera thing.
Meta Chan and three adorable kids arrive in India, ready to unite as a family. (How did they get visas?)
Judge is moved looking at them, relents and agrees to let them have their proper marriage ceremony.
Hero is granted parole again to get married.
Grand marriage ceremony has been arranged at a large farmhouse. Tight security all around.
But some strange Cambodian-looking men are lurking around. What are they up to? Are they Dhilla’s rivals, here to shoot him? Or, are they his henchmen, here to whisk him and his family away?
