Aishwarya’s rejection for Happy New Year is related to Abhishek Bachchan.
Abhishek Bachchan was already casted for the film. Aishwarya liked the script but her non-pairing with Abhishek Bachchan was the reason for her denial.
She rejected the female lead role of Mohini (later played by Deepika Padukone) in the film. Aishwarya felt it would be wierd to play a romantic role opposite Shahrukh Khan when her husband was also in the same movie.
She also felt that it would be strange and awkward for the audience too.
So the reason for her denial was her non-pairing with Abhishek Bachchan. The casting dynamics would not have been fine for her and Abhishek Bachchan.
