What are the flop films of John Abraham?

John Abraham has an astounding percentage of flops in his career, for every hit he has, he has delivered atleast 4–5 flops and his success ratio is below 30% which is very bad for a lead actor. Also most of his hits are multi starrer films where he often had the supporting roles. He has worked in around 50 movies with only 15 successful films (many of them average grossers if we remove that the hit percentage falls to 20%)

His flop movies include-

Saaya- Flop but critically acclaimed

Paap- Flop

Aetbaar- Disaster

Lakeer- Disaster

Karam- Flop

Viruddh- Flop

Kabul Express- Below Average but acclaimed

Babul- Flop

Dhan Dhana dan Goal- Flop

Salaam E Ishq- Disaster

Aashayein- Disaster

Many of his films did Average business like Dostana, Kaal, Parmanu, Madras Cafe, Shootout at Wadala, Dishoom etc. So his clean hits are less than 10.

What are Bollywood expensive flop movies?

 Bollywood Expensive Flop Movies

  • Shaandaar

I'm sure there were many like me, who genuinely felt bad for this film made at a budget of 75 crores. Once called one of the most awaited movies of 2015, it just took a day for its fall despite a fresh pairing, luxurious sets and superhit songs.

  • Bombay Velvet

Cinefans rejected the film so enthusiastically that the 125-crore film had a loss of 100 crores. Many call it the biggest flop in the history of Bollywood. Even actors Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma would prefer to disown this disaster.

  • Kites

Kites could've been a dream crossover project for Hrithik Roshan onto international cinema. Rakesh Roshan even had a Brett Ratner cut of the film for American audiences. But unfortunately, he also had a cliched script. 150 crores wasted!

  • Love Story 2050

With VFX teams from Australia and New Zealand, the film was much hyped in terms of special effects. But producer Harry Baweja's plans of giving his son Harman Baweja his dream launch failed miserably due to a "senseless" script. While Harman ended up with the tag of a Hrithik-lookalike, the corny film also lead to his breakup with his rumoured girlfriend and his female lead Priyanka Chopra. Ouch!

  • Raavan

Mani Ratnam was supposed to make a comeback with this mega project starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. With a sloppy script, the 100-crore film lost more than 50% at the box office.

  • Blue

At 129 crores, this film became Bollywood's most expensive in 2009. It had some brilliant underwater shots, expensive action choreography, a long schedule in Bahamas but no grace! The hefty paychecks of Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt took the film's budget overboard and its flimsy story about an under-sea bounty left many disappointed. Special appearance by Kylie Minogue (who was paid 6.6 crores) added to the producers' pockets.

  • Drona

It is always a risk to invest 87 crores on Abhishek Bachchan, right? But good friend and producer Goldie Behl took the risk, only to realise what he lost when the film bombed heavily at the box office.

  • Besharam

Sometimes we just wonder why brilliant actors like Ranbir Kapoor end up doing such poor films. His super stardom did draw the audience to the theaters but, ultimately, the content has to do the talking and it was declared an absolute letdown. The 85-crore film only managed to cover 35 crores.

  • Saawariya

Completely shot on 'blue-coloured' sets, the 40-crore film, after a point, left the audience gasping for some sunlight and fresh air.

  • Asoka

Shah Rukh Khan's dream project refused to go down well both with critics and fans alike. The 3-hour long period film failed at a time when 13 crores was a massive investment.

What are Bollywood's biggest flops of all time which came with high expectations?

You may not have seen this movie…But I went to theatre to watch this movie called DRONA starring Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Bachchan.

BUDGET - 45 Crores.

With such a big starcast you would expect a value for money movie..But it was a disaster.

IMDB-2.2/10

Yes 2.2 !!!!

Made on a budget of 45 crores the film earned less than 15 crores and was a disaster at the box office.

It was filmed in Prague, Bikaner, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Namibia.

It was an untied and unpredictable movie which you never wanna see. This Movie can literally make you run outside the theatre in order to save your life.

Which Indian actor has the most flop movies?

In terms of total number of flop movies as lead actor the record goes to Mithun Chakraborty.

Mithun was largely known for small budget movies which often recovered it's money from small centres but the business in Bombay and Delhi Circuit was low. So for the film analysts many of these films were classified as flops and disasters. Adding to the woes he had dozen movies releasing every year which meant he had multiple releases at the same time impacting their own business. So he had dozens and dozens of flop movies in the 90’s and early 2000’s. He must be one of the rare actors to have more than 200 flops as lead actor.

In terms of percentage of flops i think the record will go to Raj Babbar who has worked in around 225 movies but may not have given more than 25–30 succesful films with a staggering 90 percent failure rate. Naseeruddin Shah also has similar proportion of flops but he was an art film actor and his films were not made with commercial purpose. Dharmendra has also given around 180 flops and Jeetendera around 130.

Why did Mithun Chakraborty do the 200 odd flop movies that he did particularly during the 90s?

For stability and secure the future of his family

Mithun Chakraborty’s career dwindled after 1989. Apart from Trinetra, Cheetah, Dalaal, Jallad, Ravan Raj which were successes and a few average grossers he gave many dozen flops in between. Action heroes were being replaced by romantic and family heroes. And action disco dance craze faded out. So economically, Mithun made this decision to shift to Ooty where he established his Monarchy Hotel after securing a loan of 10 crores from the government.

He had earlier bought land from his producer friend in Ooty when he was shooting there in late 80’s.

To pay back the loan he created a new model- Ooty Film Factory. He asked film producers to come to Ooty to shoot his films. The whole cast and crew stayed at Monarch, shot in the nearby locations, with almost the same stories, same pattern of 4 songs, 5 fights, one item number, 3 comedy scenes etc. These films were made at almost no time shooting 3–4 films at the same time to save costs. Almost all these films had new unknown actress which saved costs and date hassles and at the same time ensured that the actresses were desperate for work and were ready to do b**d scenes in these movies. Actresses like Sapna, Mink Brar were common in these films and at times actresses like Ayesha Jhulka, Madhu, Rambha etc also joined the bandwagon. These films were made at a cheap cost, sold at reasonable rates and even though most of them didn't fare well in the Bombay and Delhi circuit they did well enough in the interiors to recover their money. Some of these films were actually good like Jallad, Ravan Raj etc but most of them including the great Gunda and Loha were pure cringe.

This model worked well for Mithun and tk some extent for Dharmendra and Jackie Shroff, but after 1998 it reached its saturation point. Between 1998–99 Mithun had 30 releases many a times 2–3 films released in a single day. After this the B grade industry went into decline and Mithun had to take semi retirement in the early 2000’s signalling and end to Ooty Film Factory.
