PIMBURATTEWA TANK

One of the ancient engineering marvels, the “Pimburattewa-Tank” in Sri Lanka, was built by Krak Parakramabahu in the 12th century.

This impressive structure, used for water storage and irrigation, is an example of advanced hydraulic systems developed by ancient civilizations.

Pimburaththewa Lake, also known as the Pimburattewa Tank, is one of the most popular tourist spots in Sri Lanka. Located in Aralaganwila in the Polonnaruwa district, lies the Pimburaththewa Lake, which is highly appreciated by locals as a swimming spot.

The beautiful lake is surrounded by beautiful views of the lush green trees of the Polonnaruwa district. The Pimburaththewa Tank is mainly recognized by its water spill-like design, made up of many triangular spikes. There are more than five water spills with triangular designs. It is a must-visit place when you are in Polonnaruwa. Although it is not a waterfall like Polonnaruwa, it seems to be a collection of waterfalls.
