What is a good piece of trivia about the Bollywood movies?

Today, almost all Bollywood movies have pivotal scenes and song sequences shot outside India, in beautiful locations such as Singapore, New York and not to mention, SWITZERLAND. And for that, we have to thank one movie.., Sangam, which was released in 1964!

Sangam was the first Indian film to be exclusively shot abroad on locations including London, Paris and Switzerland. Directed by the great Raj Kapoor, Sangam had many iconic scenes shot abroad, and he notable convinced the Swiss government to allow an Indian crew to film there.

What’s even more interesting is that this film’s romantic European visuals directly inspired Yash Chopra to shoot in Switzerland years later, turning it into the go-to Bollywood dream destination for decades. In a way, Sangam is the reason half of Bollywood’s love stories feature snow-capped mountains and cozy shawls!
