Shekhar Suman and Shahrukh Khan may not be daily companions but for years they share a warm, respectful and longstanding friendship.
Their relationship which is built on mutual admiration still remains the same.
Shekhar’s elder son Aayush was suffering from a rare heart condition and passed away in 1995 at the age of 11. According to Suman, Shahrukh was the only actor who personally visited him at Film City to offer his condolences and comfort him.
During the making of Chalte Chalte, Shahrukh had directly called Suman to ask him to do a voiceover for promotional teaser segments. Suman refused to accept the cheque stating that it was a favour between friends. However, Shahrukh gifted him an expensive watch which Suman has treasured as a Memento.
During the Aryan Khan arrest case Shahrukh received immense support from friends and fans in the industry and Suman was one of them. He also took on to social media stating that he could completely understand the torment and ordeal faced by the parents.
Following Aryan’s release on bail, Suman was vocal on criticising the rest of the film industry. He took a dig at those who went “underground” during the crisis, stating that they only rushed to Shahrukh’s house with bouquets to show false sympathy after the ordeal had ended.
Shahrukh and Suman hold each other in highest regard, balancing perfect harmony with deep admiration. Well, Suman also regrets a missed opportunity to work with Shahrukh in Devdas as he was offered the role of Chunnilal, which was later played by Jackie Shroff.
