Khakee movie climax was brilliant, well thought and surprising.
Rajkumar Santoshi directed Khakee with an ensemble cast was an amazing action movie with full of plot twists. Spoilers ahead**** with character arch of multiple prominent roles.
Amitabh Bachchan - played an ageing but ideal honest police DCP Anant Kumar. He has been asked to escort a terrorist safely to Mumbai and given a team for it.
Akshay Kumar - played a corrupt and a seasoned Inspector Shekhar. Akshay’s character has been shown strong, clever and handles every troubled situation with ease having a sharp brain.
Ajay Devgn- played ex cop turned menacing criminal. In the entire movie, he keeps on attacking the police party at regular intervals. Ajay earlier shown as a cunning cop, who was master in staging fake encounters.
Tushar Kapoor - plays a newbie in the police team. He has started learning the ways of working of police and shown as a honest guy.
Aishwarya Rai - plays a character, who has seen terrorist and also gets escorted by the police party of Amitabh, Akshay, Tushar. She also has a parallel love track with Akshay.
Atul Kulkarni - has been showcased as an accused terrorist in the movie.
Twists and plot changes:
1. First it was revealed that Atul’s character was an innocent and falsely accused as a terrorist.
2. Biggest twist- Akshay’s character, who was excellent in the movie’s journey, gets trapped by Aishwarya and Ajay. Aishwarya’s character was a mole and was planted by Ajay. She keeps on sharing vital info of police party to Devgan’s gang with pretending to be in a relationship with Akshay. In a suprise chain of events, Akshay gets betrayed and killed by Aishwarya and Ajay’s goon. One of the best twist and death scene of a central character. Akshay’s famous funny dialouge ( “neeli aankhe marwayengi mujhe" ) becomes reality in the movie.
Build up to the Climax:
Now it looked like Tushar and specially Amitabh will kill the duo. Ajay kills Aishwarya to save himself. Amitabh and Ajay had an intense final battle and finally Amitabh overpowers Ajay, still did not kill him and Ajay gets jail sentence.
Climax:
Tushar escorts Ajay to Jail in the police man. Ajay being confident unlocks him as his handcuff were tied with a mettalic block in the van. Ajay over powers the police guard, takes his gun and was about to shoot Tushar ( it looked like Tushar will die). Tushar shoots him, revealing it was all pre- planned. There was no bullet in the police man’s rifle. Tushar intentionally took the screws of the metal block so that over confident Ajay will try to escape.
A brilliant finish to a movie, where it looked like the villain will be killed by main protagonists Amitabh or Akshay, but shockingly killed by Tushar ( now shown as sharp policeman from a novice ). So, a shocking and satisfying climax where cunning Ajay - himself master of fake encounters gets killed in a fake encounter.
