Does the universe have actual boundaries? And if so, what lies beyond them?

Technically no but at the same time maybe.

The universe, as far as we can tell, has no edge but that doesn’t mean it’s infinite. It just means there’s no point where you can have one foot inside the universe and one foot outside. And if you could travel billions of light years per second in a magic spaceship while going in a perfectly straight line you’d eventually reach your starting point.

So why do I say kinda? Well it’s down to the whole multiverse hypothesis. People, much smarter than me, have come up with the idea of “quantum foam” where each bubble is it’s own universe.

The idea being that all these universes exist side by side and all around us but we have no way to see them or access them. Meaning that yes there has to be some kind of boundary but at the same time it’s not something we can access or point to. It’s purely hypothetical.
