What is the most dangerous road crossing in the world?

This "disappearing" road in France is considered one of the most dangerous road crossings in the world.

This route, known as the Gois Passage, connects the Bay of Bannaf with the French island of Noirmoutier. It is approximately 4 km long and disappears about 4 meters below the surface when the tide is high.

Therefore, people can only use the roads for a few hours, twice a day.

It's a very unique road, but it's also a dangerous one.

To prevent cars from sinking into the rapidly disappearing sand, a cobblestone path was constructed.

In addition, an elevated rescue tower has been installed so that people can wait for rescue if they become unable to move.

There's an interesting fact about the name "Gois": it comes from the verb "goiser," which means "to walk with wet shoes."

This is what the roads look like on a calm day during a spring tide.

Therefore, if you're driving through Passage du Goy, be sure to ask about the tide times.
