Sanjeev Kumar is the first Indian actor to win a National award for Best Actor for an A (Adult) rated movie, Dastak in 1970.
When Mithun Chakraborty won his first National award for Mrigya in 1976, he was not sure of winning because the final round of voting took place between Mithun for Mrigya and Sanjeev Kumar for Arjun Pandit. Mithun won the National award and Sanjeev Kumar won the Filmfare award that year for best actor.
