Two films definitely deserve a mention. Will not go into the details of box-office figures as both of them were not able to recover its cost. Leaving the commercial factor aside few points will disclose how disastrous the two movies were.
Boom (2003):
Boom was produced by Ayesha Shroff (wife of Jackie Shroff) and she had to sell some assets of herself and her husband. They owed an amount of 180 milliion to just one financer.
Jackie also mentioned that his married life suffered due to the financial crisis. Tiger Shroff later mentioned that he still remembered how their furniture was sold off one by one.
Finally his bed was sold and he used to sleep on the floor. The IMDb rating of Boom is 2.3. Amitabh agreed to do this movie as he himself was going through a big financial crisis.
Ramgopal Verma Ki Aag (2007):
Four years later everyone was exicted about this movie which actually ruined the cult classic Sholay. Only Amitabh's performance in the film was noteworthy but the audience were not happy with his negative portrayal especially with some of the character's mannerisms. Amitabh himself admitted that the film was a mistake.
Film received negative reviews. Rajeev Masand rated it 0 out of 5. The Times of India stated that Aag destroyed Bollywood's greatest film. Hindustan Times awarded it the Lifetime's Worst Movie Award.
It was at the first position in FHM India (Indian edition of the British monthly men's lifestyle magazine) list of the 57 worst movies ever made. Total film (British film magazine) included it in their list of the 66 worst films of all time. The IMDb rating of the film is 1.4.
Hits and flops are part of the game, even disasters but these were disasters not only for Amitabh Bachchan but also for everyone associated with it.
