It was their personal choice to keep it a personal affair and restrict it to family and very close friends. Also they wanted to escape the typical media circus, so the marriage took place on the terrace of Devgun House with only about 50 close friends and family in attendance.
The entire event was organised by Kajol's sisters and the focus was on family rather than public eye. The paparazzi was misled by providing the wrong wedding venue address. One more reason of keeping the marriage a simple affair was the passing away of Ajay Devgun's grandmother.
While Shahrukh Khan attended the mehandi ceremony, the marriage ceremony was attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Yash Johar, Karan Johar,
fashion designer Manish Malhotra, director Rahul Rawail and celebrity photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha to name a few.
