Who are/were the badass leaders in Indian politics and why?

  • Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister of India , Former CM of Goa

He is the first Chief Minister of an Indian state, who is an IITian. But, besides his academic achievements, his work efficiency and clean image as a leader, has made him a common man's Hero!

Some of the kick-ass things he has done so far :

  • In his home state Goa, he lives in his own house and has converted his official CM’s residence into his office.
  • Every girl child gets Rs 1 Lac deposited automatically into her bank account on completion of 18 years
  • An amount of Rs. 1000/- is directly credited in the bank account of housewives every month as a measure to combat Price Rise
  • Goa is the only state where petrol costs less than diesel. This was made possible due to the VAT being slashed down to 0.1% as part of the party's 2012 poll manifesto, which slashed petrol prices by a whopping Rs.15 per litre.
  • He does not believe in spending public money over security and travel. When he is required to fly, he uses regular airlines instead of chartered flights and travels in Economy class.
  • Last but not the least, he was awarded the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year Award 2012 in the politics category.

What is wrong with Indian Politics?

Former politicians post independence indulging into extramarital affairs with wives of foreign presidents.

One such instance is that of Jawaharlal Nehru, who was known to have an affair with Jacqueline Kennedy, the wife of former president of US, John F. Kennedy.

Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, showed greater interest in Jacqueline Kennedy, leading to John F. Kennedy's discomfort, as detailed in Bruce Riedel's book JFK's Forgotten Crisis: Tibet, the CIA, and the Sino-Indian War.

During the Kennedys' state visit to India in March 1962, Nehru insisted that Jackie stay in a guest suite at the Prime Minister's residence, despite the U.S. embassy having arranged a separate villa. This suite was reportedly frequented by Edwina Mountbatten, the wife of India's last British viceroy, with whom Nehru shared a close personal relationship. Riedel notes that Nehru's attention toward Jackie overshadowed his diplomatic engagement with John F. Kennedy, who later remarked that it was the "worst state visit" of his presidency.

The book highlights John F. Kennedy's frustration over Nehru's apparent preference for socializing with Jackie rather than addressing critical geopolitical issues. Kennedy confided to his aides that Nehru seemed more interested in conversing with his wife than in substantive discussions about the escalating Sino-Indian border tensions.

Apart from Jacqueline Kennedy, Jawaharlal was also interested into having an affair with Pat Kennedy, the 27-year-old sister of John F. Kennedy, during a 1961 visit to the United States.

Nehru's interactions with the Kennedy family were perceived as prioritizing personal connections over statecraft.

And who doesn't know of Nehru's extra fascination with Mountbatten's wife Edwina into having her as a concubine!
