The song, “Saat Samundar Paar” from Vishwatma (1992) was choreographed by Saroj Khan.
Saroj Khan had also choreographed the hit song, “Tirchi Topi Wale” in Rajiv Rai’s “Tridev”.
The choreography of Saat Samundar Paar is considered a signature piece in 90s Bollywood highlighting sharp, rhythmic and captivating, high-energy dance movements.
The song was shot at Bubbles Discotheque which was a popular night club in Nairobi, Kenya. It was also a landmark in Divya Bharti's career turning her into a star.
In 2015, a portion of the song was used in Salman Khan starrer, “Kick”. Sajid Nadiadwala purchased the rights of the same from the makers of Vishwatma for 1.5 Crore and paid tribute to his late wife Divya Bharti.
Recently, the song was used in the trailer of Karthik Aryan-Ananya Pandey starrer, “Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri”. Gulshan Rai (producer of Vishwatma) expressed his dissatisfaction as his permission was not seeked and planned for a legal action against Dharma Productions and Karan Johar.
Saat Samundar Paar is sung by Sadhana Sargam but sadly neither she nor Saroj Khan won Film Fare award for the same. Anuradha Paudwal won it for the title track of Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin while Chinni Prakash won it for his choreography for “Jhumma Chumma” from Hum.
