Several animals are potential predators or threats to king cobras, although it's important to note that king cobras are highly venomous and are formidable predators themselves.
Usually people take the name of mongoose, but mongoose are known to hunt cobras but not the king……..King Cobras are largest venomous snakes that can reach upto 19 feet. They can lift upto 6ft of their body, making them too big opponent for a mongoose.
*In the list….I won't include reptiles as almost all large reptiles are known to eat king cobras….
The below list only includes mammals and birds.
Some animals that could potentially kill or pose a threat to king cobras include:
(1) HARPY EAGLES: Harpy Eagles are the most powerful eagles in the world weighing 9 kgs (19.8 lbs.) with a wingspan measuring 2 meters (6.5 feet).
These raptors possess extremely long talons and an incredibly strong grip capable of breaking a human’s arm. They can easily crush the King Cobra to death.
(2) BEARDED VULTURE: Also known as the Lammergeyer, this bird of prey is one of the largest raptors in the world weighting up to 8 kgs (17.7 lbs.) and a wingspan measuring over 3 meters (9.8 feet).
These birds have also been seen attacking live prey as well by knocking the animal off the side of a cliff.
(3) PEACOCK: An unmistakable, large ground bird, Peacocks are large birds that can be more than four feet tall and longer than eight feet (including the train). So, they can even attack and kill large snakes.
Peacock have been known to kill everything from the highly venomous King cobra to rattlesnakes. In Hindi, mayura,’ which translates as “the killer of snakes.”Peacocks also hate the presence of snakes in their territory and attack immediately when they see them.
(4) HONEY BADGER “THE NOTORIOUS”:The honey badger is a highly aggressive mustelid that loves a challenge when it comes to obtaining food. This creature is absolutely fearless against venomous snakes. Much like the mongoose, the honey badger has some immunity to snake venom.
Thus, they can pursue and kill these animals with the knowledge that the venom will only temporarily render them unconscious rather than kill them. Their tenacity, agility, speed, and biting power allow them to overwhelm cobras and chew their heads off. As a result, honey badgers regularly eat snakes that would be far too dangerous for other animals to attempt.
(5) WOLVERINE: They look similar to small bears but they are actually large weasels, the largest of the weasel family. Wolverines are dangerous. They are aggressive animals and have been videotaped fighting wolves over a kill.
Wolverines are the penultimate predators. Ruthless and nondiscriminatory, the animal will attack and eat anything it comes across. They are known to hunt down large venomous snakes easily.
(6) CARACALS: The Caracal is a mostly nocturnal, secretive, solitary and an aggressive animal. Due to being hunted as a problem animal by farmers, Caracal became even more elusive and thus a sighting of one is very difficult.
For its size the Caracal is strong and fast, and as well as taking prey such as large venomous snakes. This Cat is able, from a sitting position, to launch 4-5 metres in the air by using its strong hind quarters and limbs.
While these animals have the potential to kill king cobras, encounters between these species are relatively rare in the wild. King cobras are highly adapted to avoid predators and often use their impressive size and venomous bite as a deterrent.
