She did made a smooth transition from child artist of films.like Kalyug and Masoom to lead actress and did decently well but she could never become a big star in true sense. Her success ratio is very low and her hit ratio is even less. Plus she has been pretty Inconsistent in terms of success. She was a very capable actress with many acclaimed performances in brilliant films like Kaun, Pinjar, Ek Haseena Thi etc but unfortunately none of these films clicked at the box office. Also many of her hits are in supporting roles.
Her only hit films are- Narsimha (moderate success in supporting role), Rangeela, Judaai (supporting role), Satya (she was supposed to be the lead a tress but eventually Manoj Bajpai and Shefali Shah ended up winning the critics award for Best actor andactress as JD Chakravarty and Urmila got overshadowed) and Bhoot and average grossers like Chamatkar, Aa gale lag jaa, Jungle and Khoobsurat. But she also has 29 flops in lead and supporting roles and she couldn't deliver a hit or even average grosser after 2003.
She was one of those actress who had everything- looks, acting, dancing skills but still couldn't succeed as much as she should have.
