The Second Case of Seetharam: A Suspense-Filled Psychological Thriller
Ever since the OTT platform Netflix made its grand entry into India, gruesome movies and web series showcasing spine-chilling cruelty have been on the rise across Indian languages, especially in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema. Most of these crime-killer movies fall into the psychopath genre; in some, the killer is revealed only at the very end, while in others, they appear right at the beginning.
Meanwhile, the inspector or detective who sets out to hunt them down is often depicted as dealing with a personal tragedy, living in a state of grief or shock. In this cat-and-mouse game, it is often the mouse that manipulates the cat. Managing the pressure of tracking down the killer on one hand, and dealing with a personal tragedy on the other, forms the core plot of many such movies and web series.
Released in February 2026, the movie 'The Second Case of Seetharam' follows a similar template. It is the sequel to the 2021 super-hit investigative thriller 'Seetharam Binoy Case No. 18'.
Cast & Crew
- Lead Actor: 'Chinnari Mutha' Vijay Raghavendra delivers a lifelike performance once again as the sharp police officer, 'Inspector Seetharam'.
- Key Roles: Gopalakrishna Deshpande and Usha Bhandari feature in prominent roles.
- Director: Deviprasad Shetty.
The Plot and Execution
Transferred to a police station in 'Anegadde', a fictional rural area in the Shivamogga district, Seetharam is tasked with solving the mystery behind a series of gruesome murders. Alongside the challenges posed by a psychopathic killer, the story also weaves in the emotional strings of Seetharam's personal life.
The movie is a slow-burner that gradually grips the audience. It starts by showing the psychopathic killer in the very opening scene to throw the viewers off guard, and then progresses through intriguing twists that keep changing the suspect.
Without any exaggerated stunts, Vijay Raghavendra delivers a highly mature performance, portraying the intelligence, patience, and sheer exhaustion an actual investigative officer experiences while facing such challenges.
Technical Highlights

- Music: Navneet Sham’s background score effectively heightens the intensity of the thriller scenes.
