What are some mind-blowing facts about nature?

 Nature is absolutely mind blowing.

This is dancing plant. When you play music near this plant its leaves start random motion and when you stop the music they'll stop moving

You see this dude on right side, its not a rare picture. Kangaroos can put their whole weight on their tail, their tail is superbly strong. They usually do it when they fight with each other to hit their opponent as much as they can, though they cannot balance for a long time.

This is a redback spider, one of the most venomous spider in the world. During mating of these spiders the female kill the male because females are much larger and stronger than males and they can kill them and eat them. Creepy ?

The Giant desert centipede. One of the most dangerous creature for me. They take their skin off and then eat it. It looks very creepy and dangerous watching it.

If you're bored with waterfalls. See this, Kamokuna lava delta in Hawai's Volcanoes National Park.

Racetrack Playa in California. Large rocks in the middle of the flat desert appear to move over the course of an evening, leaving a trail behind them.

What scientific facts are too terrifying to know about nature?

Trigger Warning: Certain images may make you uncomfortable.

Some facts can be terrifying, no doubt. But then, we humans are curious creatures and we love to know stuff, no matter how much they creep us out. Therefore, I shall present to you certain facts about nature that may send some shiver down your spine:

  • Boa Constrictors can feel your heartbeat:

Boa Constrictors are large, non-venomous, heavy-bodied snakes that are found in tropical South America and the Caribbean.

You see the part ‘constrictor’ in its name? That describes the way it kills its prey: by squeezing them to the point that their blood-circulation stops. And guess what? It even knows if the pressure being applied is enough or does it need to go further and constrict more.

But how does it know that? Well, it’s because it can feel your heartbeat.

During its long, slow squeeze, a boa constrictor will feel every last heartbeat of the animal it has captured. This slithering predator uses its prey's heartbeat to decide when it's safe to stop constricting.

You must be wondering why it just doesn’t go full squeeze-squeeze at once. The fact is that they’re not worried about crushing their prey to paste, but don’t want to expend too much energy in the process.

This nope-rope knows the exact moment when you die.

  • Jellyfish are capable of sinking boats:

The giant jellyfish that you see on your screen is known as Nomura’s Jellyfish, which can grow up to 6 ft in diameter and can weigh 400 pounds. They’ve been documented in the Sea of Japan.

As if their enormous size and venomous tentacles weren’t scary enough, they’re also quite powerful. Powerful enough to capsize boats weighing several tonnes. And no, I’m not making this up.

Back in 2009, a Japanese troller that went by the name Diasan Shinsho-maru had captured these fish. However, their power was so enormous that the boat ended up being capsized. Thankfully, the three crew members were rescued by another troller. And if you’re thinking that the boat must have been a small one, then you’re wrong. It weighed 10 tonnes. It was reported that the weather was clear, which means that it was these fish that turned over the boat.

Medusa in Greece would turn people to stone. These Medusas throw them into water (Fun fact: Jellyfish are called medusas in Spanish).

  • The Fulmar Puke of Death:

This bird is known as Fulmar Chick:

Cute, right?

And now?

(Eww, what the fuck…)

You see that orange thing coming out of its mouth? That’s its vomit, which consists of its stomach oil made of wax esters.

Poor guy must be having digestive issues”, you must be wondering. But trust me, there’s no such thing. In fact, that’s its defence mechanism which it spits at any predator bird that threatens it. The substance glues the predator’s feathers together, preventing it from flying. When the bird goes to the ocean to wash off the oil, it finds it has lost its buoyancy and drowns.

Think about it. This chick hates its predators so much that it spits at them to show the contempt it as for them. Ahhh, thoooo…

  • Proteus syndrome

Sadly, the photo below is that of a real person.

This person suffers from a rare condition called Proteus Syndrome, which is characterized by overgrowth of the bones, skin, and other tissues. Organs and tissues affected by the disease grow out of proportion to the rest of the body. The overgrowth is usually asymmetric, which means it affects the right and left sides of the body differently.

It is caused by a variant in a growth regulatory gene called AKT1 that occurs after fertilization of the embryo (somatic mutation). Affected persons have some cells with a normal copy of this regulatory gene and some cells with the abnormal gene (mosaic).

It has absolutely no cure, and the worst part is that it’s not hereditary, which means that there’s no way to tell before birth that the child will have it or not. Life expectancy is from 9 months to 29 years.

I’ve put the least graphic image I could find of this condition. If you’re not faint-hearted, then please do a Google Images search on Proteus Syndrome. That will give you an idea of how awful it is.

  • Harlequin Ichthyosis

This poor baby suffers from what is called Harlequin Ichthyosis:

It’s also a rare genetic condition that primarily affects the skin. It results in an overly thickened skin that resembles scales and is prone to severe cracks and painful splitting. Also, due to the thickness of the skin, it is impossible to sweat properly, leading to an uncomfortable rise in body temperature. It can also restrict breathing and eating.

It occurs due to a mutation in the gene ABCA12. This gene provides instructions for making a protein that is essential for the normal development of skin cells. Some mutations in the ABCA12 gene prevent the cell from making any ABCA12 protein, while others lead to the production of an abnormally small version of the protein that cannot transport lipids properly. A loss of functional ABCA12 protein disrupts the normal development of the epidermis, resulting in the hard, thick scales characteristic of harlequin ichthyosis. This condition is inherited.

The baby in the photo above didn’t survive, and this used to be the case with everyone with this disease a while ago. However, with the advancement in medical science and proper care, people are known to have a better life, like the girl below:

(Hunter Steinitz from Pittsburg)

Unfortunately, she can’t close her eyes or grow hair, and her body movement is restricted. However, she gives talks at universities and schools about her condition, spreading awareness about it and teaching people that this isn’t contagious.

  • Crocodiles can climb trees:

While they might not look like a climber, they certainly can climb trees.

In a study conducted by the University of Tennesse, it was confirmed that four different crocodile species, found in Australia, Africa, and the Americas, are all able to climb, some as high as 4m, where they were observed basking in trees. They mostly do this to bask in the sun, or to survey territory for predators, prey, or for other competitor crocodiles.

Imagine that you’ve got a crocodile chasing you and you climb a tree to escape from it. When you reach above, you find one already waiting for you there. He’ll say to you:

Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.

Or imagine that you decided to get some rest under a tree and one of them decides to jump on you from above screaming:

Surprise, motherf**ker!

  • Colossal Squids:

(Yup, that’s a real photo)

A colossal squid, found predominately in the Antarctic region, is the largest known species of squids. They can grow up to 14 meters long and weigh in at 750 kilograms.

Thankfully, they’re not an aggressive predator. Due to its slow metabolism, it waits for its prey instead of going after it. Our study of this animal is based on very few specimens, thus not a lot is known about them.

They’re fascinating, but I’d rather watch one from distance instead of going anywhere near.

  • Shark embryos practice cannibalism:

Eating your own species or even siblings after being born is one thing, but it becomes a totally different game when cannibalism is happening inside the womb itself:

The above video was recorded by a camera placed inside the womb of a sand tiger shark. You can see that the eldest of the embryos, after having developed primitive teeth, starts feasting on its siblings before they could do the same to it. This allows them to destroy competition so that all the nutrition and resources go to the surviving offspring.

What are some really astonishing or beautiful pictures in nature?

 ※ Victoria Falls

Located in Zimbabwe, this large waterfall is 1,700 meters long, with a maximum height of around 105 meters. These measurements result in Victoria Falls being the world’s largest single waterfall. Can you take a guess at how many gallons of water flow over this bad boy per minute? Over 50 million gallons a MINUTE!

※ Redwood National Park

Located in the beautiful state of California, thousands upon thousands of, to say the least, GIANT trees are found in the Redwood National Park. Each tree has an average age of 3,000 years old, and are the tallest tree species on Earth. The tallest tree in the world, located in this park, is measured at 379 feet… That is pretty large considering the average tree height is anywhere from 20-40 feet.

※The Everlasting Storm, Venezuela

At the mouth of the Catatumbo River in Venezuela, a very unique mass of storm clouds swirls, creating the rare spectacle known as Catatumbo lightning. The storm occurs up to 160 nights a year, 10 hours per day, and 280 times an hour.

※ Kilchurn Castle, Scotland

※ Light Pillars, Russia

Light columns are visible in extremely cold areas like Russia. They originate from natural light, like the moon or setting sun, reflecting off ice crystals, which are nearly perfectly flat and smooth.

How do I achieve Asana Siddhi to gain Gyan about the universe and cosmic nature?

Answer: First of all, let me clarify what Asan is and what Gyan is. So, Gyan is basically the word used for knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. And, Asana or Aasan or Asan (आशन) is a word used for the cloth where you sit to meditate or a type of Bida (बिडा) where the spiritual practioner sits to perform various rituals. There are many types of Bida (बिडा) and the Aasan is one of them.

Bida is prepared for various purposes. There's one Bida made for Kamman (कम्मान) purpose and there's one Bida made for meditation purposes, there are many other types of Bida. Kamman (कम्मान) is a state in Devata language when the energy of the Devata enters the body of the person temporarily, for a few minutes. While the person prepares, whether it's a Dhami, Jhakri, Bhagat, Aghori, or anyone, we put some leaves of Mango tree on top of the Bida and we also decorate it with flowers. Then, we also put a Kalash of pure water next to it and a holy plate with Aksheta (अक्षेता) on it, which are some raw rice grains. And, then after burning the incense sticks and Diya lamp, the related person sits on the Bida. That's one simple form of Bida.

If you are starting from scratch, for meditation purposes only, the Aasan or Bida takes 2–3 months at least to get ready and become Siddh. It's not done overnight.

Let me make a few things clear. When we sit directly on the floor for meditation, our body starts producing vibrations and cosmic energy through our head and Kamal Navi (Bellybutton). The energy starts falling down and it gets absorbed by mother Earth. So, to prevent that, we need to have an Aasan or a Bida where we sit. I am not talking about the various Yoga positions, I am talking about the cloth where we sit.

To make Aasan Siddh, a red coloured Aasan is the best for beginners. When you go into your prayers room, always clean it first with Ganga Jal water or pure water before placing your Aasan on it. Now, before placing the Aasan, touch the Earth with your right hand and do Pranam or Namaste (🙏) saying “Om Prithivye Namah” (ऊँ पृथ्व्ये नमः ). Doing this will pay tribute and respect to mother Earth or mother nature.

Then, pay respect to the Bhumi Devata (भुमी देवता) and also the Kshetrapal Devata (क्षेत्रपाल देवता), whoever they are in your area, suppose there's Jagannath as the Bhumi Devata in my locality and then I will pray to him or pay tribute to him in any way and sit on the Aasan.

After sitting on the Aasan, make a Suraksha Ghera or protective shield around it to stay safe from negative energies. For this, you can either lit a Diya Lamp in four different directions in the name of your Ishta Kul Devata and request them to provide protection from all four directions. Additionally, you can request Lord Hanuman and Lord Bhairav or Lord Jagannath to protect you. After praying to them for protection, bring both your hands behind your neck and touch the tip of the finger with the fingers of the other hand, and bring both hands forwards and clap slowly. Do this three times. And, you can also do the Kawach Mantra given by your guru and blow air in all directions to provide protection from all directions.

Now, to make Aasan Siddh, there's no any specific Mantra, I don't know if there's one. If you have any specific Mantra to make Aasan Siddh, then let me know in the comments. As far as I know, you just have to follow a set of rules and when the energy keeps falling on the Aasan, it gets automatically Siddh. The more you chant Mantra on that Aasan, the more energy keeps falling on that Aasan, it starts becoming more active and Siddh. The Mantra that I am talking about here is any Mantra that you are doing Sadhana of.

The rules are simple such as, do not let a third person sit on the Aasan. That Aasan belongs to you only and if a third person sits on it, no matter whoever it is, your brother, sister, or anyone in your family member, or a third person from outside, do not let anyone sit on that Aasan cloth. Because if you do this, the energy stored in that Aasan could get contaminated. You don't know what kind of energy they are carrying. It could be positive, it could be negative, pure, impure, we don't know, they could just contaminated it by sitting on it.

Moreover, if you let anyone else sit on that Aasan, they could also absorb the energy stored on the Aasan and take it away with them. So, be careful about this and do not let anyone sit on it, no matter who that person is.

Also, you can clean the Aasan if it gets dirty with pure water and dry it. If the Aasan gets old and torn, then don't throw it. Buy a new similar Aasan and when you go to meditation, put that new Aasan on top of that old Aasan. I don't recommend anybody to sit on the bed meditation or put the Aasan on the bed for meditation because the bed might have sexual activities conducted on it and it can just contaminate the energy.

Always put the Aasan on a pure clean place on the floor. Do not sit on the chair unless you have some medical issue. Suppose if you have a medical issue and cannot sit on the floor, and you can only sit on the chair, you will require two Aasan, one placed on the floor, and one placed on top of the chair.

And, as you keep meditating on the Aasan for longer period of time, it starts absorbing energy automatically and it becomes Siddh. That's how Aasan Siddhi is done. Every time before you stand up or leave the Aasan, put one drop of water on the Earth below it saying the same Mantra “Om Prithivye Namah” 3 times, meaning 3 drops of water and 3 chant of the mantra.

Also, request Lord Indra to not to steal the shakti or energy produced from that Aasan by saying these Mantras:

  1. Om Indraye Namaha (ऊँ इन्द्राये नमः)
  2. Om Sakraye Namaha (ऊँ सक्राये नमः)
  3. Om Sachepate Namaha (ऊँ सचेपते नमः)

So, that is how Aasan Siddhi is done. I apologise for any accidental mistakes. Hope this helps.
