Story was nothing that was ahead of it's time. It was a musical revenge drama where there were some robbery scenes. An old story presented in a new package.
It was a step that went wrong. May be they wanted to repeat and cash over the success of Mr. India. A lot of money was invested. Huge amount was spent on art direction.
Sridevi's dresses especially in the song, “ Dushman dil ka jo hai mere” was very costly. Neeta Lulla was the dress designer.
Shekhar Kapoor who was the director of the film who left it mid-way and the film was completed by Satish Kaushik. So may be the makers had something in their mind but failed at the execution level. Delay and overbudget were other problems.
Javed Akhtar was criticised for his poor story. The hype for the film was too much and it turned out to be an ordinary film.
