I know Savitri garu as great Donor.
I worked in Repalle State Bank from 1972 to 1984.
On that time in our bank, there was a current account on name of ‘Correspondent,SSGH School Vaddivaripalem’.
SSGH School means “Srimati Savitri Ganesh High School” .That is the School established by Savitri garu for the convenience of Poor Children in her Home village by her own financial assistance.
Later that School was recognized by Government of Andhra pradesh and Salaries given by Government lately to the School staff most of the times.If Government not releases the funds some times salaries will get late even by 6 months also.
On behalf of that School, employees will come to the bank holding the cheques to change.Because of Affection on Savitri garu I used to greet them whenever they come to our bank.Once even after 5 months also nobody came to our school to change their cheques.
One day when I was working in the Current Account Counter in our bank, the school employee brought a cheque to deposit Rs104000 / - with the signature of Savitri garu(Madras-now Chennai).
In 1975 Rs. 104000 / - means that is about Rs. Over 40 lakhs now a days.
Usually the government deposits the money in School account and when a cheque signed by the correspondent deposited in bank, the credit will be given to staff.This is the procedure that happens regularly.
In contrast, with Savitri's signature, cheque is being deposited in bank by the employee on that day. As I am being curious asked, "Why you brought the cheque bearing Savitri’s Signature which is different from regular practice?"
He told me this: In phone Savitri garu asked our correspondent How our school is running? for that our Correspondent told us that for five months the government not granted salaries to teachers and staff .Listening this Savitri garu asked him to come to Madras immediately.
Our correspondent immediately went to Madras.
Knowing that employees are suffering for five months, Savitri has moved away and given her own money of Rs. 104000 / - to pay the staff dues, saying we can think later about Govt. Grants.
What more evidence do you need to say about charity of that Mahatalli?
