What are some weird facts?

 Time for some anti-gravity shit.

You all know about the Hoover Dam,

Now, look at these:

The water is going upwards.

It seems like the water here is defying gravity. I have to admit, it’s a pretty cool and freaky phenomenon.

If you want, you can go there and try it out yourself.

The structure of the dam creates an upward draft that makes water seemingly defy gravity.

An aerial view of the dam shows where the strong wind would travel up the Colorado River to hit the wall.

What are some weird facts about North Korea?

It's been a little over five year since Kim Jong-un came into power in North Korea. Here are some interesting facts about the world's most "secretive" leader.

1. His real age is a mystery

He is thought to be the world's youngest ruler, but no one has any clue to his actual birthday. It is believed that he was either born in 1983 or 1984. The US Treasury Department, in 2016, lists his birth date as January 8, 1984. He is the youngest son of the late "supreme" leader, Kim Jong-il.

2He attended the best Swiss school using a fake name.

Kim Jong-un was enrolled at a top private school in Switzerland's capital city of Bern but proved to be poor academically. Clad in a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt and Nike shoes, he was introduced to his classmates as Pak Un from North Korea. Money was spent lavishly on his education but he was more inclined towards music and basketball, a sport that he is still passion about, than his studies. With no improvement in his grades in mathematics and science, his father moved him to a Swiss state school where he was put in a lower grade.

3. His addiction to Swiss cheese is the source of his chubbiness.

In Switzerland, Kim became fond of Swiss cheese. His consumption of Emmental has been blamed for his bulging body and lumbering walk. Large amounts of cheese are imported every year to satisfy his cravings.

4. He is a military commander with no training

When his father died in 2011, he took command of the North Korean Army. With practically no experience in the armed forces, the world is on edge as Kim has control of his nation's military.

5. He underwent surgery to resemble his grandfather.

For some, plastic surgery is a means of improving their looks, but Kim Jong-un's goal was to look like his grandfather, Kim Il-sung.

6. He ordered North Koreans to style their hair like his, but he's afraid of barbers

In North Korea, there are strict rules regarding haircuts. Kim Jong-un's haircut is special – it's called the "ambitious".

A decree was passed in the country in which males were ordered to sport a similar hairstyle. Females were asked to wear their hair in a bob, like his wife, Ri Sol-ju. Performers are not bound by these rules.

Kim is also believed to be scared of barbers, so he cuts his own hair.

7. He is a die-hard basketball fan

His love affair with basketball began during his days in Switzerland. He is an ardent fan of the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan is his favourite player. He is close friends with former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who has made several trips to North Korea.

8. He has executed many of his family members

Kim Jong-un, in December 2013, reportedly ordered the execution of his uncle, Jang Song-thaek, who was accused of plotting against the state. Some reports suggest he was fed to a pack of wild dogs, while some believe he was killed by a firing squad.

What are some weird facts?

Do you know that people in the Mongol Empire never, ever took a bath?

The people in the old Mongol Empire never washed themselves because of a prevalent superstition of the time. In order to understand this, you need to first know that the Mongols of those times believed that the water cycle was controlled by dragons.

They never washed themselves because they thought that it would result in the water getting polluted. This pollution, according to them, would make the dragons that controlled the water cycle angry. So if you were to meet any Mongolians of those times, you would be overwhelmed by their filth!

Since the people in the Mongol Empire didn’t bother to clean themselves, it shouldn’t surprise you that their clothes were in the same boat. This means that they never washed their clothes either. You would think that common sense would at least make them change their clothes regularly since they didn’t wash them.

However, this was not the case. In fact, people of the Mongol Empire didn’t change their clothes till they got torn or came apart on their own. The only exception to this was during festivals and holidays. On festivals and holidays, everyone in the Mongol Empire would change into special robes.

It’s only natural for a person to smell if he or she has never taken a bath in his or her life. However, the Mongol Empire took this to another level too. They treated a person’s smell as something special and personal. Effectively, while you or I would treat their stinky clothes with upturned noses, they saw them as something honorable. It was also connected to their personalities.

For instance, if the great Genghis Khan was to give some individual his old, worn out, and stinky clothes, then the person would feel honored. This feeling wouldn’t only stem from the fact that the individual got to own the clothes of the great Mongol Empire’s leader, but also because he received his smell with them.

Yikes

People in the Mongol Empire mainly wore long, flowing gowns which are known as caftans. Depending on an individual’s status in the society, the detailing on his caftan would vary. Furthermore, the material of the caftan also varied according to the status of the person wearing it.

The materials used by the Mongols included silk, fur, cotton, leather, wool and even brocade. Along with their gown, they wore boots made of cow fur and belts. The worst part is that their boots almost always smelled of cow dung.
