Malini, the mystery girl who shot to fame with her performance in Raaz, herself became a mystery thereafter. She never appeared in any other film.
Malini was seen in the famous serial C.A.T.S on Sony TV. She also appeared in music videos mainly Bombay Vikings’ “Kya Soorat Hai” and Mika’s “Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag”.
Malini married actor Piyush Chatterjee in 1997. She faced personal challenges and the couple divorced during the shooting of Raaz.
Though the reasons behind the split were kept private, Malini backed out of a signed film after Raaz. She was signed for Gunaah opposite Dino Morea but withdrew days before the shooting due to camera anxiety.
She also turned down subsequent film offers as she wanted to distance from the screen and be away from limelight.
Later, she briefly worked behind the camera as an art director for Just Married and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.
Further, Malini launched her brand, The Slow Local which included creative workshops for children and also selling homemade bread, jam, peanut butter etc. She kept a low public profile and let a quiet life in Sahyadri Hills.
Recently, a viral media feature and profile provided details of her quiet life. Fans then flooded the internet and started contacting her business number. Malini addressed the influx of calls and thanked everyone to support her livelihood.
